Royalty payments by some listed companies exceed 20% of profits
Listed companies paid royalty to related parties in excess of 20% of their net profits on one out of four occasions, flagging the need for change in norms, a study published by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) Thursday showed. “The data suggests that though the royalty payments made by companies are reasonably within the stipulated threshold, such payments are unjustifiably high in terms of their profitability,” Sebi said.

Infosys' Narayana Murthy feels issues like Delhi pollution remain unsolved because of Indian mindset problem
Infosys' founder Narayana Murthy recently said Indians failing to solve problems as the main factor behind issues such as Delhi pollution remaining a persistent problem for the country. «Which area has (India) invented? Please give me an example,» Murthy during an inter highlighting the country’s dependence on adapting foreign technologies rather than creating innovations. Murthy said that India has yet to solve long-standing issues like Dengue and Delhi's pollution, despite these being persistent problems. He questioned why the IT services industry should be singled out for criticism when the country as a whole has not addressed these challenges.

Justin Trudeau’s immigration crackdown fails to revive his slumping support
Justin Trudeau’s plan to drastically slash immigration targets, but the move has done little to boost his waning popularity, a new poll suggests. Despite three in four respondents agreeing with the immigration reduction, just over half said it has no impact on their impressions of Trudeau, according to a survey by Nanos Research Group for Bloomberg News. Some 17% stated it negatively affected their opinion of the prime minister, while 28% reported a positive impact. Trudeau’s government last month slashed the number of annual permanent-resident admissions by more than 20%, the first cut to a key immigration group in more than a decade. Combined with a plan to shrink the population of foreign students and temporary workers, the policy is a sharp reversal aimed at restoring confidence in the country’s immigration system as well as Trudeau’s Liberal Party.

World Diabetes Day 2024: Why type 2 diabetes often goes unnoticed, early signs of this silent killer, and associated risks
Diabetes is rapidly becoming a major health challenge worldwide, with the potential to lead to serious complications if not diagnosed and managed early. Like high blood pressure, diabetes often progresses quietly, showing few symptoms at first. This allows it to go unnoticed until significant damage has already been done, which is frequently irreversible. Diabetes develops when the body cannot produce enough insulin or use it effectively, leading to an excess of sugar in the blood. Over time, this can impact the heart, kidneys, lungs, and brain.
