Death by strangulation, decapitation, exsanguination. Buried alive, burned on pyres, crushed by stones, thrown off cliffs. Homo sapiens in nearly every part of the world has practiced human sacrifice at some point over at least five millennia, often killing females in fertility rites or for burial alongside powerful males.

IT now a tactical buy, not a portfolio bet; 4 other stocks to invest in: Vinit Bolinjkar
Vinit Bolinjkar, Head of Equity Research, Ventura Securities, says he is constructive on Shalby Hospitals and thinks the stock can touch Rs 500 in the next couple of years. The second stock he likes is NTPC and says the NTPC green IPO should lead to a significant re-rating of the stock. He also expects a 50% upside on Senco Gold. He is also gung-ho on Wockhardt where he expects outsized disproportionate returns given that the company is coming out with a new molecule which, once it goes into commercial production, may see the stock double. Now that TCS has kick-started the earning season, what do you make of this quarter that has gone by? We did have some headwinds coming by. There was a heatwave, elections and so lots were happening in this quarter. Give us a generic view and also your specific view on what IT companies are expected to do and how their numbers are expected to look given TCS has come out with a stellar set of numbers. Vinit Bolinjkar: TCS and Tata Elxsi numbers are slightly lower than those reported in the previous quarters, but the growth trajectory that both the companies have guided for is resoundingly strong and the pipeline also seems to be improving and getting better.

To assist in starting a colony, he has even donated his sperm. Instead of the 40–100 years, he had previously estimated, his timescale has accelerated, with one million humans expected to inhabit Mars in 20 years, as per the reports of DNYUZ.

Universities don’t want AI research to leave them behind
Universities are in a race for relevance in the field of generative AI as private companies, loaded with talent and pricey chips, drive the conversation. Outspent by Silicon Valley, some are turning their research focus to less computing-power intensive areas of artificial intelligence, even as they seek to build additional computing resources capable of powering bigger models. “Academic institutions are scrambling to get access to compute," said Hod Lipson, chair of the mechanical engineering department at Columbia University.

Royal Canadian Air Force has revealed the reasons behind the failure of its much-touted Avro Arrow also called the CF-105. The aircraft was meant to be Canada’s ticket to global dominance in the civil aviation world and prevent the nuclear bombers of USSR from entering North America. This program was abandoned 65 years ago and recent documents have attributed many reasons for its failure. The flight after its successful flight was disbanded before it could be pressed into service. This aircraft was built during the cold war era in the 1950’s.
