PSU lenders do not have the power to issue Look Out Circulars: Bombay HC
Bombay High Court on Tuesday ruled that public sector lenders do not have the power to issue Look Out Circulars (LOCs) against citizens and foreigners under the office memoranda (OM) of the Central government. The division bench of Justice GS Patel and Madhav Jamdar ruled this in a clutch of petitions challenging the LOCs issued to restrain people who are indebted to public sector banks from travelling abroad. A detailed order is awaited. The court, however, while terming empowerment of the managers of public sector banks to issue LOCs as ‘arbitrary’, clarified that OMs of the central government were not ultra vires to the Constitution. With this ruling, all such LOCs issued at the request of the public sector banks were quashed and set aside by the high court.

Our aspiration is to make Persistent a $2 billion plus company in next three years: CEO
Sandeep Kalra, CEO, Persistent Systems, says “as we go ahead, as the market conditions stabilise, that will give us the opportunity to have the leverage of all the investments we have done whether they are in the next generation technologies like generative AI or increased sales and marketing investments, etc, and that should help us take the margin up. We still stand by our aspiration of growing the margins by 200 to 300 basis points over the next two to three years.” Your conference call commentary was that your FY25 margins will be similar to FY24, but that has missed Street expectations. What are the headwinds or are you being conservative? Sandeep Kalra: From a margin perspective, what we are saying is this. The margin has to be looked at in the context of the revenue growth that we deliver. So, if we are going to be looking at a revenue growth which is somewhere in similar lines as what we have done in this year, that is what our aspiration is, then at that point in time you have to optimise for one or the other.

Congress slams BJP govt for 'rolling back' pro-people schemes in Rajasthan
Congress on Sunday said its previous government in Rajasthan passed a series of visionary laws to meaningfully improve the quality of life of thousands in the state and asked why the current BJP dispensation is «rolling back» pro-people schemes. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh posed the questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his rallies in Jalore and Banswara. «Why is the BJP Government rolling back the INC's pro-people schemes? Does the PM prioritise his businessmen friends over Rajasthan's rural communities? Why has ERCP not been designated a national project yet,» Ramesh asked in a post on X. Elaborating on what he said were «jumla details», Ramesh said when the Congress was in power in Rajasthan, it passed a series of visionary laws that would meaningfully improve the quality of life of thousands in the state.

Hanuman Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that listening to Hanuman Chalisa also becomes crime under Congress rule. Best mutual funds: These ELSS schemes gave over 20 per cent annualised returns in past 3 years. Should you invest?
mutual fund scheme, one of the key motivations to invest is the annual return it can deliver over a period of time. Although one-year returns do not reveal much about a scheme's potential, the returns over a period of time can help investors determine its investing potential. For instance, a scheme that has given annualised returns over a period of time, say three or five years, are seen as more investible by retail investors.
