'Railways Liable for Theft': Court orders railways to pay Rs 4.7 lakh to passenger for stolen bag in reserved bogie
NCDRC) has ordered the Indian Railways to pay approximately Rs 4.7 lakh in compensation to a passenger whose belongings were stolen on the Amarkantak Express in May 2017. The commission found that while the passenger took «reasonable precautions» to secure his luggage, the ticket collector (TTE) failed to prevent unauthorized individuals from entering the reserved coach. Around 2:30 AM, Chaturvedi reported to the railway police that his luggage, which included cash and valuables worth approximately Rs 9.3 lakh, had been stolen. Salman Khan Vs Lawrence Bishnoi: When former girfriend Somy Ali requested forgiveness for the actor
Somy Ali, who was once in an alleged relationship with Salman Khan, made a heartfelt appeal to the Bishnoi community back in May 2024, requesting forgiveness for the actor’s involvement in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. The case, which has haunted Khan for over two decades, resurfaced with threats from gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, whose community holds blackbucks sacred. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Ali asked for compassion, stating that while mistakes were made, they shouldn’t lead to violence or threats. Ali remarked that everyone makes mistakes, but that doesn’t mean a person deserves to be killed or harmed. She further emphasized that the incident took place many years ago, when Khan was younger, and urged the community to forgive him. She said, “Even today, I do make mistakes; you also make mistakes. We'll keep making mistakes till we are alive, it's human nature. This is innately built within us and nobody is perfect. But if you're attempting to kill someone or firing bullets on him then you're crossing the line. I don't support hunting as a sport but this event took place so many years ago. Salman was much younger in 1998. I want to request the head of the Bishnoi tribe to forget about it and move on. I apologise on his behalf (Salman) if he has made a mistake and please forgive him.”
