Finance Minister urges RRBs to speed up digitisation to ensure better services in rural areas
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday expressed concern over the slow progress of computerisation in Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and urged them to speed up the process to strengthen credit delivery in rural areas.There is still a lot of work to do in digitising RRBs and cooperative banks, she said after launching the ‘Kisan Rin Portal’ and Weather Information Network Data Systems (WINDS) manual here.Cooperative banks are not equally endowed, and their financial health varies, she said, adding ramping up capacity in the sector is taking place under the Ministry of Cooperation headed by Home Minister Amit Shah.

Indian Bank on Saturday announced roll out of 'IB SAATHI' initiative aimed at providing an integrated ecosystem for all stakeholders in the financial sector through the business correspondent route. The IB Sustainable Access and Aligning Technology for Holistic Inclusion (SAATHI) offers an enhanced user experience through the simplified delivery of services, encompassing both basic and value-added offerings to customers. The bank's Managing Director and CEO S L Jain launched the initiative at their corporate office, a press release said. Indian Bank, with the launch of the scheme, seeks to provide basic banking services at all centres for a minimum of four hours per day at fixed branches while the Banking Correspondents would extend their services directly at the doorsteps of the customers.

DGCA renews Zexus Air Services' flying permit
Zexus Air Services, which was operating the now grounded carrier Zoom Air, on Friday said its flying permit has been renewed by aviation regulator DGCA. After launching operations in February 2017 with a CRJ aircraft, the Gurugram-based airline shut down operations in 2020, and subsequently its flying permit was suspended. The renewal of the air operator certificate will help the grounded domestic airline to take wings again. "Zooom Airlines (earlier Zoom Airlines) has received the official clearance to commence commercial passenger operations in India...the airline received its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the DGCA," Zexus Air Services Pvt Ltd said in a statement on Friday. The AOC was renewed on September 14 and it would remain valid till September 3, 2024, a source in the know said.
