Bank credit rose 14% on-year as of June 28, outpacing deposit growth at 11%, putting the spotlight yet again on central bank's concerns over the gap that could lead to asset-liability mismatches. Latest Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data showed the growth in deposits and credit was lower than the year-ago period, reflecting a slowdown in economic activities due to the uncertainty on the economic outlook because of the Lok Sabha elections. Rolf Habben Jansen said in a call with reporters on Wednesday. Attacks on vessels by Yemen-based Houthi militants have led shipping firms to avoid the Red Sea that connects with the Suez Canal and instead use a longer route around southern Africa, a situation whose end was hard to predict, he said. «We have seen solid demand, particularly since May 1, that meets with limited availability, also because of the Red Sea situation, that's why spot rates are going up,» Habben Jansen said.

UPS Election President show country rights French leftists win most seats in elections, pollsters say; lack of majority threatens turmoil
Emmanuel Macron's centrist alliance in second and the far right in third. The lack of majority for any single alliance threatened to plunge France into political and economic turmoil. Final results are not expected until late Sunday or early Monday in the highly volatile snap election, which was called just four weeks ago in a huge gamble for Macron. It does not appear to have paid off for the deeply unpopular president, whose alliance has lost control of parliament, according to the projections. Marine Le Pen's far-right National Rally greatly increased the number of seats it holds, meanwhile, but fell far short of expectations. Far-left leader Jean-Luc Melenchon urged Macron to invite the leftist New Popular Front coalition to form a government, given projections that put it in the lead. The alliance, he said, «is ready to govern.»

Provident Digital Action wellness show track Department ITR filing: How to check income tax refund status online
income tax refund after you file the income tax return (ITR) for that year. However, the income tax refund will only be issued after the tax department processes your ITR and sends you an intimation notice confirming it. This intimation notice is issued under section 143 (1) of the Income-tax Act, 1961. This year, the returns need to be filed for FY 2023-24 (AY 2024-25) with the current deadline being July 31, 2024. The refund for income tax is processed by the State Bank of India (SBI) and is directly deposited into the bank account that the taxpayer has designated in their ITR at the time of filing. Therefore, it is crucial to double-check that the correct bank account number and IFS code have been provided. Additionally, it is important to have the bank account pre-validated on the government's new income tax e-filing portal and to link the PAN with the bank account. Align community President show country Argentina designates Hamas a terrorist group in show of support for Israel
Argentina designated Hamas a terrorist organisation on Friday and ordered a freeze on the financial assets of the Palestinian group, a largely symbolic move as President Javier Milei seeks to align Argentina strongly with the US and Israel. Announcing the decision, Milei's office cited the militant Palestinian group's cross-border attack on Israel last October 7 that killed some 1,200 people and took 250 others hostage, in the deadliest assault in Israel's 76-year history. The statement also mentioned Hamas' close ties to Iran, which Argentina blames for two deadly militant attacks on Jewish sites in the country. The move comes just days before the 30th anniversary of one of those attacks, the 1994 bombing of a Jewish community centre in Buenos Aires. It killed 85 people and wounded hundreds more in the worst such attack in Argentina's modern history.

The Second Body, an odd gem of a book by the science historian, Daisy Hildyard, which was published in 2017. I read it in a day, in a state of feverish excitement, savouring one of those rare encounters with an author who dares to strip away the film of familiarity from their readers’ eye, forcing them to see what has remained long unseen. A curious mix of cultural history, investigative journalism and philosophical analysis, it’s hard to classify The Second Body.

COST UPS Provident economy Dreams show Poor middle class is getting taxed more: The gold standard demands 10% tax slab to start from Rs 10 lakh today
income tax on the middle class — the most honest taxpaying group? The intention behind collecting income tax is noble as it helps in wealth redistribution and contributes to the growth of the economy. And, the Indian middle class is one of the most prominent groups that contribute to the nation's revenue through income tax. However, the process fails to live up to its intended goal when it starts taxing people with relatively lower income. Money loses its value with time due to inflation. So if tax slabs are not increased with time, it would mean people are paying income tax on lower real income. This has become an issue worth serious consideration today. According to budget 2014, an income tax rate of 20% became applicable on income above Rs 5 lakh and 30% on income above Rs 10 lakh. This has not changed in the last 10 years. If we take average inflation to be 6%, the real value of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 10 lakh of 2014 would now be Rs 2.8 lakh and Rs 5.6 lakh, respectively.

Progressive President show performer social rights politician Here comes the 'KHive': Buzz for Kamala Harris grows after Joe Biden's debate stumble
That is the future being dreamed about by supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris, drawn from a meme referring to one of Harris' favorite expressions: «what can be, unburdened by what has been.» Harris has been criticized throughout her three-plus years in office, with articles examining her management of the border crisis and her struggle to define her tenure in the often-thankless role of vice president. She has proved unpopular enough among voters that she has often not been immediately thought of as President Joe Biden's obvious successor, with Democratic stalwarts often naming governors like Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan and Gavin Newsom of California as more appealing choices.
