India’s expanding defence role and partnerships will likely further contribute to the increasingly competitive nature of India–China relations.’’ It may be noted that India has stepped up its maritime security partnership across SE Asia including deputing Navy ships to the region regularly.

The aviation regulator mentioned the inordinate delay of two international flights—AI 183 from Delhi to San Francisco on May 30 and AI 179 from Mumbai to San Francisco on May 24. “It has come to the notice of DGCA that flight Al-179 dated 24.05.2024 and flight Al-183 dated 30.05.2024 were inordinately delayed and passengers were put to discomfort due to insufficient cooling in the cabin, " the show cause notice reviewed by ET said.

India raised capex by 42 per cent in FY22 and 24 per cent in FY23. This was trimmed to 11.1% for FY25 in the interim budget from the budgeted capex in FY24, which was up 35.9 per cent from previous year, in line with the government's fiscal consolidation glide path. The Centre intends to narrow its fiscal deficit to 5.1 per cent in FY25 from 5.8 per cent in FY24 (RE).
