Amazon rainforest has revealed evidence it was once a large-scale hub of interconnected cities that date back more than 2,500 years.The findings were published Thursday in the journal Science and detail the researchers’ work in mapping the network of settlements, which may be the earliest example of urbanism ever documented in the Amazon.“It was a lost valley of cities,” said Stéphen Rostain, first author of the study and a director of France’s National Center for Scientific Research. “It’s incredible.”The team of researchers identified at least 15 distinct settlements connected by a network of roads that stretched 10 to 20 kilometres.

global support for India's permanent membership at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that sometimes things are not given generously and one has to seize it. «With each passing year, the feeling in the world is that India should be there, and I can feel that support...The world does not give things easily and generously; sometimes you have to take them,» the EAM said on a question regarding a permanent seat for India at the UNSC. The EAM was speaking at 'Manthan': Townhall meeting in Maharashtra's Nagpur. Jaishankar then pointed that India which has showed the capability of conducting a successful G20 presidency, that brought out " New Delhi Declaration" despite of diferences within the member nations,will contribute in the UNSC. «If a country has such a capability, such a country in the UNSC can actually contribute as well,» he added. On the relevance of the UN, the EAM said that in many ways, the limitations of the UN are now showing and that the organisation used to be more relevant in the 1950s-60s. Nagaland becoming the latest of the 17 states and Union territories to have detected its presence, according to INSACOG on Saturday. The number of theatres in Delhi rose from 129 in 2008 to 137 in 2022, with the peak point being in 2017, when the number was 142, it said. The handbook containing data on socio-economic parameters of the national capital was released by the Delhi government's Economic and Statistics department.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) carried more than 67 lakh people on January 1, 2024, the highest ridership registered by the mass transit system on a New Year day in the last six years. According to DMRC data released on Saturday, a total of 67.47 lakh commuters availed the services of metro on January 1. The data showed that 49.16 lakh people used metro on January 1 last year, 23.66 lakh in 2022, 55.26 lakh in 2020 and 50.16 lakh in 2019.
