Apple’s ‘Glow Time’ event: Next-gen AirPods Pro 3 expected to debut with Digital ANC
"digital ANC." This indicates that Apple might focus on software enhancements and sophisticated audio processing to elevate the earbuds' performance, rather than altering their physical design. The AirPods Pro 2, which debuted nearly two years ago, already boasts "up to twice as much" ANC compared to its predecessor, making the forthcoming model highly anticipated for further advancements.Although Kosutami's previous leaks have been largely accurate, the exact release date of the AirPods Pro 3 remains uncertain.

Chinese hacker group exploits startup bug to target US, Indian companies
Volt Typhoon is exploiting a bug in a California-based startup to hack American and Indian internet companies, according to security researchers. Volt Typhoon has breached four US firms, including internet service providers, and another in India through a vulnerability in a Versa Networks server product, according to Lumen Technologies Inc's unit Black Lotus Labs. Their assessment, much of which was published in a blog post Tuesday, found with «moderate confidence» that Volt Typhoon was behind the breaches of unpatched Versa systems and said exploitation was likely ongoing. Versa, which makes software that manages network configurations and has attracted investment from Blackrock Inc and Sequoia Capital, announced the bug last week and offered a patch and other mitigations.

Healthcare vertical keeping heart rates up at Indian IT services companies
Cognizant TriZetto, a unit of Cognizant Technology Solutions, sued Infosys in a US court, accusing the Indian IT service firm of stealing trade secrets related to its healthcare insurance software. This was the latest of developments in the healthcare verticals of India-centric IT services firms that have grabbed headlines in recent months, for positive or negative reasons. In November last year, the US Supreme Court rejected Tata Consultancy Services' appeal against a District Court of Wisconsin verdict, charging $140 million in punitive damages in a case filed by Epic Systems. The US healthcare software company had accused TCS of stealing its intellectual property when the Indian firm was contracted to implement its software.

Meta says Iranian group tried to target Trump, Biden officials' WhatsApp accounts
Meta said on Friday it had identified possible hacking attempts on the WhatsApp accounts of U.S. officials from the administrations of both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, blaming the same Iranian hacker group revealed earlier this month to have compromised the Trump campaign. In a blog post, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp described the attempt as a «small cluster of likely social engineering activity on WhatsApp» involving accounts posing as technical support for AOL, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft. It blocked the accounts after users reported the activity as suspicious and had not seen any evidence suggesting the targeted WhatsApp accounts had been compromised, it said.

US auto safety regulator closes probe into GM's Cruise robotaxis
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Thursday it was closing its preliminary evaluation into hard braking and immobilization in autonomous ride-hailing vehicles operated by General Motors' Cruise unit. «In view of the recall action taken by Cruise and ODI's analysis of the available data, including data presented by Cruise demonstrating a reduced occurrence of hard braking incidents after the software updates, ODI (Office of Defects Investigation) is closing this Preliminary Evaluation,» NHTSA said in a letter. Cruise still faces investigations by the Justice Department and Securities and Exchange Commission following an accident last October in which one of its robotaxis struck a pedestrian and dragged her 20 feet (six meters).

Google to help build cyber protection for Australian infrastructure
Google and Australia's national science agency said they will work together to develop software that automatically detects and fixes network vulnerabilities for operators of critical infrastructure, seeking to contend with a surge in cyberattacks. The software for organisations such as hospitals, defence bodies and energy suppliers will be customised to be in line with Australia's regulatory environment. «Software supply chain vulnerabilities are a global issue, and Australia has led the way in legislative measures to control and combat the risks,» said Stefan Avgoustakis, head of security practice for Google Cloud in Australia and New Zealand.
