Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises more than doubled their revenues for the year ended March 2024, with significant improvements in profitability, largely on the back of increased share from the league’s central revenue pool during IPL 2023. The 10 teams collectively received Rs 4,670 crore from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the IPL 2023 compared to Rs 2,205-crore share from the central pool for the IPL 2022, as per BCCI’s annual report for FY23. “The first eight IPL franchisees have been profitable for more than eight years now and their profits have significantly increased in FY24, and are expected to be at that level going forward due to the media rights renewal in 2022 and the resulting increase in the central pool,” D and P Advisory managing partner Santosh N said.

The Tamil superstar’s latest film, ‘GOAT’ (short for ‘Greatest Of All Time), which hit the theatres on Thursday, is poised to shatter BO records. According to a report by box-office tracking portal Sacnilk.com, the sci-fi action extravaganza has collected over Rs 8.56 crore so far on day one of its release. Going by the craze it witnessed during advanced bookings, the movie is predicted to cross Rs 100 crore worldwide on the first day. Earlier, the movie garnered over Rs 24.5 crore through advance bookings for its opening day. Of this total, around Rs 22.83 crore came from its Tamil 2D screenings, while the Tamil IMAX 2D screenings earned approximately Rs 30 lakh. The Telugu and Hindi 2D versions of GOAT collected Rs 85.66 lakh and Rs 50.52 lakh, respectively, according to the film trade site Sacnilk. National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah, who filed his nomination from Ganderbal constituency in central Kashmir on Wednesday, accused the BJP of using independent candidates to manipulate the assembly elections. The company manufactures and markets the Jawa, Yezdi and BSA motorcycle brands in India and overseas in the price range of ₹170,000 to ₹300,000. Classic Legends had acquired these iconic brands and successfully revived them. «This is the company that should have an IPO. It will be the most valuable one in its segment.
