UPS students social information Department International Post, protest, pack up: Indian students among those told to self-deport by US
international students in the US have received emails from the US State Department instructing them to self-deport due to alleged involvement in campus activism. Immigration attorneys confirmed to TOI's Lubna Kably that some Indian students are also among those affected, with actions as minor as sharing a social media post leading to visa revocations. This crackdown follows a directive from Secretary of State Marco Rubio, which mandates social media reviews of both current international students and new applicants for student visas. Those found in violation face visa cancellations, making them ineligible to study in the US. Axios previously reported that this effort, powered by artificial intelligence, has resulted in the revocation of over 300 student visas. Affected students have been informed that their Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) records have been terminated, leaving them no grace period to stay in the country. The email states, «On behalf of the US Department of State, the Bureau of Consular Affairs Visa Office hereby informs you that additional information became available after your visa was issued. As a result, your F-1 visa with expiration date XXXXX was revoked in accordance with Section 221(i) of the US Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended.»

UPS Man Metro students show social Bengaluru youth shares how he was forced by a woman to give up his seat in metro. Netizens has some hilarious advice for him
The young man, a 21-year-old student, had boarded the Bangalore Metro after a long and exhausting day. Having just completed an entrance exam, he was both physically and mentally drained. After standing for some time, he finally managed to find an empty seat, allowing him a brief moment of relief during his 40-minute commute. However, his respite was short-lived. Soon after, a woman, likely in her early thirties, entered the metro and directed her gaze toward him. She showed no apparent signs of needing special assistance—she was neither pregnant, injured, nor accompanied by a child. There was nothing visibly indicating that she required the seat more than anyone else. Moreover, the seat he occupied was not designated as a priority or a women’s seat.

COST Career students social reports Schools Consultant's MBA is the costliest course for 'teaching nothing' post triggers big debate on social media
Manab Majumdar, an ISB graduate and consultant, recently shared his perspective on the realities of pursuing an MBA. In a LinkedIn post highlighted the high cost of the degree, the unrealistic expectations associated with post-MBA career growth, and the importance of focusing on academics over distractions during the program. According to Majumdar, an MBA is one of the most expensive courses despite the availability of similar knowledge at a fraction of the cost through other learning methods. Many students enter business school with the misconception that an MBA will immediately catapult them into top executive roles, but the reality is far from the Bollywood-inspired fantasy of instant corporate success, he said. He also emphasized that the experiences during an MBA program are valuable but should not overshadow the primary goal of academic and professional advancement. «MBA is the costliest course for teaching nothing. Yes, you can learn every subject taught in an MBA at 1/100 cost,» he said in the post.

Action students Universities Department Discrimination Schools Investigations Stanford, Cal and UCLA investigated in Trump's anti-DEI campaign
Trump administration has opened investigations into the admissions policies at Stanford University and three campuses within the University of California system, including UC Berkeley, UCLA and UC Irvine, the Department of Justice said Thursday. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has directed the department's Civil Rights Division to investigate whether the schools' policies comply with the 2023 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that ended affirmative action in college admissions, the department said in a statement. Since taking office in January, President Donald Trump has attempted to dismantle diversity, equity and inclusion programs that his administration says exclude white and Asian American students. The administration has warned schools and colleges they could lose federal money over «race-based preferences» in admissions, hiring, scholarships and all aspects of campus life.

Action students Universities Justice Department rights Colleges US may bar foreign students from colleges linked to pro-Palestinian protests
Trump administration is considering measures to prohibit some colleges from enrolling any foreign students if they are deemed «pro-Hamas,» according to senior officials from the Justice and State Departments. The move, which could involve grand jury subpoenas, marks a further expansion of the administration’s immigration policies and efforts to counter antisemitism, though civil rights groups argue it suppresses free speech. Policy background The proposal stems from the «Catch and Revoke» program, an initiative led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Initially targeting foreign students allegedly involved in pro-Palestinian protests, the program has resulted in over 300 student visa cancellations in three weeks. Officials state that the government is scrutinizing universities with a significant number of foreign students engaging in demonstrations, which could lead to decertification from the Student and Exchange Visitor Program.

Reuters students Universities Department Discrimination Colleges Investigations Trump warns these universities over antisemitic discrimination against Jewish students. Check details
Muhlenberg College learned in January 2024 — as pro-Palestinian protests were sweeping campuses across the United States — that it was under investigation for discriminating against Jewish students, the small liberal arts institution in Pennsylvania took action. The college fired a tenured professor who had been accused of targeting Jewish students, and the U.S. Education Department, satisfied with Muhlenberg's response to complaints of antisemitism on campus, ended its investigation. So Muhlenberg's inclusion on a list of 60 universities and colleges under investigation by the Education Department for antisemitism was «not anticipated,» Todd Lineburger, a spokesperson for Muhlenberg, said. «To our knowledge, Muhlenberg is not on the DOE list of institutions with open investigations,» Lineburger said. «We have received no further information from the Department of Education and continue our robust efforts to remain fully compliant with all laws and regulations.» The March 10 letter to 60 institutions, signed by the Education Department's acting civil rights chief Craig Trainor, focused on antisemitic activity following the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks on Israel. It warned that Donald Trump's administration would not tolerate antisemitic acts — and institutions that did risked losing federal government funding.
