Scientific and medical researchers are appalled that their work was drawn into the debate to begin with.

Netflix cofounder Reed Hastings wants more researchers and students to ask deep questions about artificial intelligence and its potential to upend human norms. To that end, Hastings has donated $50 million to Bowdoin College, his alma mater, to create a research initiative on «AI and Humanity» — the largest gift to the liberal arts college in Maine since its founding in 1794, the school announced Monday. The aim of the program, Hastings and school officials said, is to make Bowdoin a mecca for studying the risks and consequences of AI. The initiative also aims to help prepare students to grapple with emerging technologies that can manufacture humanlike texts and even produce formulas for potential new drug compounds.

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is looking into the proposal to allow basic non-programmable calculators in class 12 accountancy exams to easy cognitive load associated with lengthy calculations, according to board officials. A panel will be formed to come up with guidelines on their use to maintain uniformity, they added. Currently, CBSE allows students with special needs in both classes 10 and 12 to use calculators. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISEC) allowed class 12 students to use calculators in 2021.

Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh with officials from the Public Works (Building) Department and the Medical College authorities to review the proposed residential colony project for Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH). The project, aimed at infrastructural development, is set to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore. It may be noted that the project involves the replacement of existing residential quarters with new accommodations designated for the Principal, Vice-Principal, senior and junior faculty members, GNM staff, and students, alongside housing for third- and fourth-grade employees. Additionally, the plan includes the construction of a convention centre and the provision of other essential facilities. During the meeting, the Chief Minister assessed the broader environment of AMCH and examined the architectural plans for the proposed residential colony. He emphasised the necessity of incorporating modern amenities within the housing units. Furthermore, he instructed the relevant departments to ensure that provisions for future expansion and development are integrated into the planning process.

The state government will provide financial assistance to students preparing for competitive examinations and youth with graduate degrees. Training will be arranged to develop their employability skills through a dedicated platform. For this, the government will constitute a high-level committee. National Testing Agency is expected to release Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main Session 2 admit card 2025 on March 29. The link will be released on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The admit card will contain candidate's personal details, exam centre address, exam timings, among other details. Applicants must carry the admit card and valid photo id on the JEE Main exam day. The second session of JEE Main 2025 will be held between April 1 and April 8. Application and correction windows for the test are over and next, the agency will release exam city intimation slips and admit cards.
