Corruption flourished during previous Congress govt, no development work done: Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini
Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday alleged that corruption flourished under previous Congress governments and was that the party is «known to work for commissions». Hitting out at the Congress's 'Haryana Maange Hisab' campaign, Saini accused the party of land grab and said the Congress had no development work to speak of. «When the opposition has no issue to raise, they are taking out 'hisab yatra'. Hooda sahab, we give account to people regularly,» said Saini stepping up his attack on the Congress following the announcement of the assembly polls in Haryana. «I have asked Hooda ji many things, including questions pertaining to farmers, but he has not answered even one of them,» the chief minister said addressing a rally in Yamunanagar district.

Indian businesses need to align cyber security budgets with growth objectives: Kaspersky
Indian businesses need to align cyber security budgets with their growth objectives to ensure sustainable expansion in the face of increasing digitalisation and associated risks, a top official of Kaspersky has said. The emergence of new-age technologies, including artificial intelligence and GenAI, is critical for companies to boost their businesses. «In order to grow businesses, you need to digitise. If you don't digitise, you are not going to have that business growth value,» Adrian Hia, Managing Director for the APAC region at Kaspersky, told PTI. At the same time, the digitalisation of businesses increases the attack surface area, opening avenues for risks like sophisticated cyberattacks.

OpenAI blocks Iranian group's ChatGPT accounts for targeting US election
OpenAI said on Friday it had taken down accounts of an Iranian group for using its ChatGPT chatbot to generate content meant for influencing the U.S. presidential election and other issues. The operation, identified as Storm-2035, used ChatGPT to generate content focused on topics such as commentary on the candidates on both sides in the U.S. elections, the conflict in Gaza and Israel's presence at the Olympic Games and then shared it via social media accounts and websites. Investigation by the Microsoft-backed AI company showed that ChatGPT was used for generating long-form articles and shorter social media comments.

Don't regard India as optional: Engage and debate, rather than remain socialmedia warriors or opt out of India altogether
rape and murder of a young doctor at a medical college in Kolkata is that India is unsafe for Indians. And a rattled and well-heeled middle-class once again is mulling the supposedly easy way out: let's send our children abroad to study, so that they can live in a safer country and prosper. This points to a basic weakness of both social media and the chatterati-knee-jerk reactions. It is true that the much-tomtommed assertion that Kolkata and West Bengal are «safe» for women has been conclusively disproved by the countless stories finally coming out about unreported crimes, triggered by the RG Kar incident. Though Bengal had been comforted by data collected by the National Crime Records Bureau (provided by the state police) showing that Kolkata is the safest city, clearly rapes and murders occur there as much as anywhere else in India. But is the alternative to abandon India? And go where? To the US, where this year has already seen the deaths of more than a dozen Indian students? Where there have already been nearly 300 mass shootings in 2024? Where immigration and 'migrants' are a sore issue?

Why these economic indicators could spell trouble for Donald Trump?
Kamala Harris has led almost all opinion polls since Joe Biden sidestepped and endorsed her for the US Presidential Election 2024. If media reports are to be believed, it was largely due to the enthusiasm she has created among the US voters. But economic indicators are now being discussed, Donald Trump has targeted the vice president for rising unemployment and she has declared to ban food price hikes if elected. So, will the economic factors help the presumptive Democratic candidate? Or will the Republican candidate be able to upset her winning equation by taking the rants of «America First» and «Make America Great Again» (MAGA) to a new height?
