'Up to 20 years in jail for vandalising Teslas': Donald Trump revs ups warnings to attackers, 'financial backers'
Donald Trump made it clear that those involved in the recent series of attacks on Elon Musk-owned Tesla properties could face significant consequences, including long prison sentences. Trump warned that anyone caught «sabotaging Teslas» — whether the perpetrators or their financial backers — could face up to 20 years in prison, in a fiery post on Truth Social. “People that get caught sabotaging Teslas will stand a very good chance of going to jail for up to twenty years, and that includes the funders. WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU!!!,” his post read. This stern warning follows a string of attacks on Tesla showrooms, charging stations, and private vehicles, mainly in left-leaning cities across the United States. The White House has strongly backed Musk in the wake of these attacks.

Japan's core inflation hits 3% in February, keeps alive BOJ rate-hike bets
The data came in the wake of Bank of Japan (BOJ) Governor Kazuo Ueda's warning, made after its decision to keep interest rates steady on Wednesday, that rising food costs and stronger-than-expected wage growth could push up underlying inflation. The increase in the core consumer price index (CPI), which strips away the effect of volatile fresh food costs, compared with a median market forecast of a 2.9% gain. That kept core inflation above the BOJ's 2% target for the 35th straight month. It slowed from the previous month's 3.2% rise due largely to the resumption of subsidies to curb fuel costs, government data showed on Friday. A separate index that excludes the effects of both fresh food and fuel costs, closely watched by the BOJ as a broader price trend indicator, rose 2.6% in February from a year earlier after climbing 2.5% in January. It was the fastest year-on-year increase since March 2024, when it rose 2.9%.

Two task forces to look into changes in Atomic Energy Act and nuclear liability law
In written replies to questions in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh said the first task force comprises members from the Department of Atomic Energy, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Niti Aayog, Ministry of Law and Justice and Ministry of External Affairs. «The Task Force is looking into various aspects like build, own, operation of nuclear power plants by the private sector, nuclear safety, security, safeguards, fuel procurement/fabrication, waste management, spent fuel reprocessing,» Singh said. He said a separate task force is also looking into the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage (CLND) Act to address the concerns raised by private suppliers. The CLND Act is considered to be the biggest hurdle to private sector participation due to a provision in it that pins liabilities on nuclear suppliers, in addition to the operator, in case of damage.

Unraveling the digital arrest scams: How scammers target vulnerable pensioners
digital arrest scam operation that possessed data of 20,000 pensioners, including their banking information from various states, leaving officials astounded. A previous operation last year led authorities to discover prepared scripts containing calculated dialogues aimed at deceiving and pressuring elderly targets. Digital arrest fraudsters have become increasingly sophisticated, utilising advanced methods and extensive personal information. Their leaders, typically operating from foreign locations, leave authorities dealing primarily with lower-level operatives. Officials discovered an intricate system of deception capable of trapping vigilant people. «They seem very organised from step one. They employ scripted fraud speeches, carefully crafted to instil fear and panic, making targets more susceptible to the scammers' demands,» explained a cyber cell officer. «The scripts are scientifically tailored to exploit the target's vulnerabilities, such as their age, health or financial situation, making these speeches even more effective at extracting money and information from unsuspecting individuals.» These criminals select their targets deliberately. They utilise various methods to acquire sensitive banking information, focusing on elderly customers. Their techniques include social engineering, data breach exploitation, and collaboration with corrupt bank staff who share confidential customer information.

Trump threatens Houthi rebels that they'll be 'completely annihilated' as airstrikes pound Yemen
Strikes hit Sanaa, Yemen's rebel-held capital, as well as their stronghold of Saada in the country's northwest on Wednesday night, the Houthi's al-Maisrah satellite news channel reported. It aired footage showing firefighters battling a blaze in Sanaa and damaged at what it described as a sheep farm in al-Jawf. It also said strikes happened overnight Tuesday, though the U.S. military has not offered a breakdown of places targeted since the airstrikes campaign began. The first strikes this weekend killed at least 53 people, including children, and wounded others. As the strikes hit, Trump wrote on his Truth Social website that «tremendous damage has been inflicted upon the Houthi barbarians.» «Watch how it will get progressively worse — It's not even a fair fight, and never will be,» Trump added. «They will be completely annihilated!»

Why Mexico and Canada are much happier countries than the US
World Happiness Report 2025 is out. And, surprise, surprise—Mexico and Canada, the two countries frequently targeted by US President Donald Trump, have been ranked much higher than the United States in terms of happiness. According to the UN-backed report, the United States is ranked 24th, while Canada stands at 18th. Surprisingly, Mexico has an even better ranking at 10th place. Notably, this marks the worst ranking for the US since the report's inception in 2012, when it achieved its peak ranking of 11th place. One of the biggest reasons for the decline in American happiness, according to the report, is eating meals alone. «The number of people dining alone in the United States has increased by 53 percent over the past two decades,» the authors stated, highlighting that shared meals are strongly linked to well-being. Data from 2023 showed that approximately 25% of Americans consumed all their daily meals alone.
