JD.com shares fall 13%, hits record low; banks cut Q3 growth target on retail slowdown
Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com fell as much as 13% to a record low on Friday after several banks and brokers cut price targets and revenue growth forecasts for the firm, citing a weaker-than-expected recovery in consumer spending. The brokerages and banks including Citi, Daiwa and Jefferies, which issued notes to clients on Thursday and Friday with the revised estimates. JD.com, which is listed in Hong Kong and the United States, is expected to report quarterly financial data in mid-November following China's main online shopping festival, Singles' Day. Shares in JD.com, which is also China's largest home appliance retailer, closed at their lowest level since their June 2020 debut. A debt crisis in the key property sector has contributed to slowing China's economic growth after the pandemic, while many Chinese have cut back on spending due to concerns over the economy and job security, hurting the retail sector. In March, JD.com warned it would take time to rebuild consumer confidence post-pandemic as it missed fourth-quarter revenue forecasts. Citi Research lowered its revenue assumption for JD.com by 3.4% and 4.3% for the third and fourth quarter, saying that it now estimates 0.8% and 1.3% growth respectively. The bank's analysts cited a «relatively muted consumption trend, high base, intense competition, and on-going impact from restructuring adjustment» for the change in estimates. Nomura said JD.com had yet to see any meaningful improvement in retail since the third quarter, adding that the company had also missed on any positives from the stimulus policies China has rolled out since September to rescue the property market. JD.com said it had no comment on the analyst revisions and its share price

Hamas says 13 hostages killed in Israel strikes on Gaza
Gaza Strip have been killed in Israeli air strikes in the past 24 hours, Hamas's armed wing said Friday. In a surprise assault early Saturday, Hamas militants stormed Israeli communities near the Gaza border and fired barrages of rockets, in an attack that claimed more than 1,200 lives. Israel says Hamas has taken more than 150 people hostage, including both civilians and security forces. «Thirteen prisoners… including foreigners» were killed in five locations targeted by Israeli fighter jets, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement. Israel has rained air and artillery strikes on the blockaded Gaza Strip — a densely populated enclave of 2.4 million people — flattening buildings and killing more than 1,500 people. According to the Hamas media office in Gaza, at least 500 children are among the dead. The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades had warned this week that «every targeting of our people without warning will be met with the execution of one of the civilian hostages».

Anand Rathi management met yearly target in 6 months & revised guidance upwards. Here’s how
Anand Rathi, Founder & Chairman, Anand Rathi Group and Rakesh Rawal, CEO, Anand Rathi Wealth in conversation with ET Now. Rathi says “the inflow in our equity mutual fund has increased. Now the equity mutual fund accounts for 50% of our AUM compared to 48% a year back. Even when the markets had outflow in mutual funds, we had positive inflows. We are expecting continuous inflow into mutual funds. ” You have managed to achieve your FY24 AUM guidance of Rs 47,000 crore in the first half itself. What are the underlying factors and what is the new target you are eyeing now? Rakesh Rawal: AUM is a combination of the new monies that we get, as well as the increase in the fund value on account of the market. In the first six months, the market was very positive which led to the numbers being achieved earlier. We have done exceptionally well in terms of gathering fresh funds as well. Having achieved this, obviously in the next six months, we expect to do more. And therefore our revised guidance for the end of the year is now Rs 51,000 crore. Mr Rathi, you have also managed to achieve over 50% of your revenue and profitability target. Would you be looking to revise this? Anand Rathi: Yes, we will. In fact, the last time we gave a profitability target of Rs 205 crore for the whole year. As you rightly said, we achieved more than 50%. And therefore, we are revising our target to Rs 220 crore for the whole year, increasing by Rs 15 crore profit PAT for the year.

2 top stock recommendations from Gaurav Bissa
«One can use stop loss of 19,630,19,640, buy Nifty here, the targets will be around 19,800. So, as I said, for small bounce, one can buy here. But overall, the trend or the upper band remains a little bit weak,» says Gaurav Bissa, InCred Equities. Quick reading on the Nifty, Bank Nifty for a moment and your trading ideas and then we will talk about select movers in trade. Well, as far as Nifty is concerned, at high levels, we have seen breakdown retest of Nifty at 19,859 at spot level and this is also a 61.8% retracement of the fall that started from 20,200 to about 19,200. So, we will find some resistance in Nifty at higher levels. So, on a broader perspective, it is a sell on rise market for the time being.

Can bond yields come back to normal levels post inflation data? Jayesh Mehta answers
«So I think, I would look at it not really, you know, coming up very quickly, unless US will come down or maybe we see much softer inflation, which does not look like coming very quickly,» says Jayesh Mehta, BofA. Let us talk about bond yields specifically. Last week was a bit of a scare when bond deals after the credit policy shot up. And now can bond yields come back to normal levels post the inflation data? I think currently, what we are seeing is, if you really look at it, general public poll expectation from the RBI on the policy. It was supposed to be a hawkish pause. And that is what RBI actually did. So at that point of time, you did not do any action on the hawkish side, but you did make a couple of announcements that is, 4% is the target, and we might do OMO sales for liquidity purpose, very well clarified in the press conference also. But that also depends a lot on where US yields were. So I think where the US yields were, that is where the market was a little heavy and they did consider that. And that is where we spiked up. I think it will still now track US yields tomorrow, it does not look like, but if hypothetically, if US will drop down, then definitely we will see some relief there on the bond side.

Israel bombs hit Damascus, Aleppo airports, says Syria
Aleppo, putting them out of action, Syrian state media said on Friday. Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) cited a military source to report that the missile strikes happened «simultaneously» at 13:50 (local time), causing material damage to the airstrips, which resulted in them being «out of service.» «The Israeli latest aggression comes in the framework of the occupation authorities' continued policy, based on aggression and violation of the international law and the UN convention,» Syrian foriegn Ministry said in a statement as cited by its state media agency. Israel has so far not commented on the strikes on the Syrian airports. Al Jazeera publication quoted Syrian television channel Sham FM as stating that Syrian air defences were activated in response to the attacks on both airports. Damascus and Aleppo airports not only handle civil aviation but also host military bases. Israel has in the past carried out strikes on targets in Syria, including its airports as part of operations believed to be aimed at disrupting Iranian supply lines, Al Jazeera reported. The attacks on the two Syrian airports come ahead of a planned visit by Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who on Thursday departed from Tehran for Baghdad and is scheduled to proceed to Syria and Lebanon later. Before his departure, Amirabdollahian addressed reporters in Tehran, stating that the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories is the primary source of crises in West Asia, Iranian state news agency IRNA reported. The Iranian minister, on his arrival in Beirut, said if the Israeli bombardment of Gaza continues, the war may open on «other fronts».
