Rohit Sharma could continue as Test captain but...: BCCI sources reveals key detail on Hitman's position
Champions Trophy triumph has added to the aura of Rohit Sharma and it won't be a surprise if he continues as Test captain and travels to England as leader of the pack even as the selectors are yet to make a decision on the tour, starting June 20. Rohit was under pressure to perform in Dubai, especially after a 1-3 series defeat in Australia accentuated his own poor form. The triumphant run in Dubai has certainly given the skipper breathing space and elbow room. But the question remains if the national selection committee will consider success in ODI format while deciding on more challenging Tests format, where the returns have been modest, of late. The team suffered six hard-to-digest defeats, in the last WTC cycle. The new cycle for India will begin with the England series, where the first Test will be played at the Leeds.

India one of four nations to demonstrate satellite docking and undocking: ISRO Chairman
«India is now one of the four countries in the world to have demonstrated both docking and undocking technology,» Narayanan told reporters. Recalling the preparations the organisation did before the mission, Narayanan mentioned that they carried out over 120 computer simulations of the mission to make sure there wouldn't be any mistakes during the mission. «On January 16, we had a major achievement; we successfully docked both the satellites together, and it was rotating as a single body. Then, we wanted to separate it out, the undocking process, for that we carried out a lot of studies and analysis and we made a simulator and carried out 120 simulations, as there should not be any mistakes. On 13th March, at 9:20 am, in the first attempt itself, we succeeded in the undocking process,» the ISRO chairman said. On January 16, ISRO scientists successfully demonstrated their space docking ability by docking two satellites launched under SpaDex.

Vadodara accident accused blames airbags, eyewitnesses say he asked for 'another round' after mishap
«We were going ahead of the scooty, we were turning right and there was a pothole on the road. There was a scooty and a car while we were turning right… The car slightly touched the other vehicle and the airbag opened suddenly, our vision was hampered and the car went out of control. We were going at 50 km/hour,» said Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, who has been arrested after the accident. A woman was killed on the spot and four others sustained injuries in the accident on Friday. The accident occurred around 12.30 am near Muktanand cross roads in the Karelibaug area. The 20-year-old law student was allegedly speeding and cops said it could be a case of drunk driving as eyewitnesses, who caught Chaurasiya at the scene, told the police that he appeared intoxicated and was screaming «another round, another round» after coming out of the car.

NASA, SpaceX try again to launch rocket set to bring back stuck astronauts
NASA and SpaceX on Friday will count down to a long-awaited crewed rocket launch that will allow them to bring home U.S. astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who have been stuck on the International Space Station for nine months. SpaceX and the U.S. space agency had planned on Wednesday to launch from Florida a replacement crew of four astronauts, a mission called Crew-10, but a last-minute issue with the rocket's ground systems forced a delay. Now slated for liftoff at 7:03 p.m. ET Friday (2330GMT), the Crew-10's arrival to the ISS on Saturday night will allow the return of Wilmore and Williams, two veteran NASA astronauts and U.S. Navy test pilots who in June 2024 were the first humans to test-fly Boeing's Starliner spacecraft to the ISS in June. But problems with Starliner's propulsion system during its flight to the ISS delayed what was expected to be an eight-day stay. NASA deemed it too risky for the astronauts to fly home on the Boeing craft, which led to the current plan to bring them home in a SpaceX capsule. It has also become entangled in politics as President Donald Trump and his adviser Elon Musk, SpaceX's CEO, claim without evidence President Joe Biden left «Butch and Suni» on the station for political reasons.

Syria's 5-year transition to hinge on Islamic law
Syria kept a central role for Islamic law in a constitutional declaration issued on Thursday which guarantees women's rights and freedom of expression during a five-year transitional period, according to a summary read on TV. The declaration is designed to serve as the foundation for the interim period being led by President Ahmed al-Sharaa, a Sunni Islamist who spearheaded a lightning offensive that toppled Bashar al-Assad from power in December. Islamic jurisprudence will be «the main source» of legislation, according to the summary read out during the signing ceremony. That seemed to differ from the previous constitution which called it «a main source» of legislation. «We have kept Islamic jurisprudence as the primary source of legislation among sources of legislation,» said the summary, read out by a member of the committee which drafted the declaration. Sharaa had appointed the panel less than two weeks ago. Sharaa, who has promised to run Syria in an inclusive way, has been grappling with the biggest test of his leadership in the wake of a wave of sectarian killing in the coastal region, blamed on fighters aligned with his government.

What no one tells you about job hunting: Lessons and hiring trends from 88 interviews you must know
«Pay attention to patterns,» the user advised, noting that repeated questions can hint at underlying concerns or values within a company. Another significant finding was that short hiring manager interviews—lasting 20 minutes or less—could indicate one of two things: either the company is not seriously considering the candidate or they are desperate to fill a role quickly, often due to high turnover or internal dysfunction.

Nuclear deal with US led to strategic ties that put India in 'bind' today, says CPI(M) leader Prakash Kara
Prakash Karat said on Thursday, as he called for improving relations with China as a balancing factor. In an interview with PTI, Karat, the Interim Coordinator of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), said India does not need to be allies with China, but improving relations with the northern neighbour will help India's position in a multipolar world. Amid ongoing tariff dispute with the US, he said in 2008, when the Left parties withdrew support from the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government over the Indo-US Civil Nuclear deal, the move was seen only in context to the deal. However, over the years, it led to strategic relations developing in a way that today the Trump administration is trying to «extract» deals from India. Karat, who served as the general secretary of the party from 2005-2015, was at the helm when the CPI(M)'s withdrawal of support from the UPA government led to the alliance government facing a strength test in Parliament, which it survived though with the backing of the Samajwadi Party. «People saw our opposition to the India-US nuclear deal only within the framework of that civil nuclear deal. We saw it in a wider perspective because the real thing was America was saying we will give you this nuclear deal, we will remove all those earlier restrictions and prohibitions which were there… But the quid pro quo was that you come into a military and defence agreement with us, which we entered into — the ten year military framework agreement,» Karat told PTI.
