India has potential to be key sustainable aviation fuel producer, says IATA official
sustainable aviation fuel by utilising its ethanol supplies and availability of lipids feedstocks like non-edible industrial oils, according to a senior official at the global airlines' grouping IATA. With decarbonisation in focus, efforts are being made to reduce emissions and over the years, Indian carriers have operated some flights with a blend of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and traditional Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). Hemant Mistry, Director of Net Zero Transition at the International Air Transport Association (IATA), said the ecosystem for SAF has developed but there is more work to be done.

Sea rules, like road traffic, need monitoring and regulation
Around 2.30 pm on Wednesday, when Neel Kamal set off to sail from Gateway to Elephanta island, a popular tourist destination, it was business as usual for the boat operators. Without paying much heed to rules and regulations, they overbooked ferrying 110 passengers instead of 80 that is allowed by the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB). At 3.55 pm as the boat was nearing Karanja, a Navy craft undertaking sea trials lost control, on a collision course, it rammed into the ferry, capsizing it. Just like the roads where the traffic is monitored and regulated, the sea too has its rules. Post the 26/11 attacks where terror visited Mumbai through seas, the coordination between the multiple maritime stakeholders has gotten better and no sea attack in the last 16 years bears testimony to the same.

Delhi CEO pokes fun at Bengaluru’s language war, says Delhi NCR is better; netizens slam him for being ‘tasteless’
recruitment post has sparked the ire of netizens and reopened the age-old language debate that has emerged as one of the red-button subjects in Bengaluru. While the city is often called the ‘Silicon Valley’ of India and is renowned for its vibrant startup culture, several red flags about India’s tech paradise have recently emerged: traffic problems, sky-high rents, and the language debate. Delhi-based entrepreneur Vikram Chopra recently took a potshot at Bengaluru’s language issue. In a hiring post addressed to techies, the CEO of Cars 24 wrote, “Still can’t speak Kannada after years in Bengaluru? It’s okay. Aa jao Dilli (come to Delhi).” He added that his firm was on the lookout for ‘kickass’ engineers who wished to stay close to home. “We are not saying Delhi NCR is better. Only that it really is. If you wish to come back, write to me at [email protected] with the subject — Delhi meri jaan,” he wrote.

Indian Railways to elevate tracks for smooth traffic during Maha Kumbh 2025
Indian Railways, in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation, has undertaken a project to elevate railway tracks to remove level crossings before next year's Maha Kumbh, officials said on Sunday. The initiative is set to ease traffic congestion, save travel time, and provide significant relief to city residents, they added. Celebrated in a cycle of 12 years, the Maha Kumbh will be held in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26. Rail under bridges (RUBs) and rail over bridges (ROBs) are ready on almost all the level crossings in Prayagraj where movement will start fully before the mega event, officials said.
