Mantra
Science of mantra
How does a mantra act scientifically? Every sound and form has a different archetype inside the brain. The process of knowledge takes place through these archetypes. As I am talking to you, knowledge simultaneously takes place inside you, but this process is not based on the actual sounds I am pronouncing. As soon as the sound goes into the brain, it changes its waves and assumes various geometrical patterns. These patterns are the archetypes. Now, in science, the principle is that perception and cognition take place inside through the intermediary archetypes, and what we perceive is not exactly as it was outside. There are infinite archetypal patterns. In yog they are known as mandalas and yantras. Scientists have found that by producing certain sounds, certain flower-like shapes were formed. When certain mantras were chanted, they found that they created the archetype of a lotus flower.

Study: Refrigeration effective in preventing E. coli on lettuce, not kale and collards
lettuce from E. coli contamination, but not kale and collards — types of saag — a new research has found. Seeing outbreaks on lettuce but not on kale and other brassica vegetables like broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, collard greens and others, researchers analysed the tendencies of leafy greens to get infected with E. coli, or Escherichia coli, a bacterium species found in lower intestines of humans. While generally harmless, some of its strains are occasionally responsible for food contaminations and can cause food poisoning. The researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, US, infected whole leaves from five leafy greens — romaine lettuce, green-leaf lettuce, spinach, kale, and collards — with E. coli (serotype O157:H7) and observed what happened after storing them under these temperatures — 4 degrees Celsius (refrigeration), 20 degrees Celsius (room temperature) and 37 degrees Celsius (normal body temperature). Overall, a combination of both temperature and leaf surface properties such as roughness and the natural wax coating were found to govern susceptibility to the bacterial contamination, the researchers found.

Ivy League whisperers: Why high-end education consultants are in huge demand from Delhi to Dhanbad
students, dreaming of Harvard and Yale, with parents in tow, step into a rather unimpressive building nearby. They come from as far as Amritsar, Dhanbad and Delhi. They make their way to the sixth floor where an amiable-looking, grey-haired, bespectacled man waits for them in his three-room office. Viral Doshi, they believe, has the key to their favourite undergraduate destination—the Ivy League. The kids are often just 14 years old. When they are in Class IX, they come to Doshi, one of the most sought-after consultants for US college admissions in India, to entrust their next four years to him. These years will be spent in crafting a student life that will tick all the boxes in an application form to a top American college. Doshi’s four-year package costs anywhere between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 7 lakh. “Applying to universities is not a cookie-cutter process,” says Doshi. “Each application requires a lot of time and attention to detail as a kid’s career is at stake.” He starts by getting to know a student—their favourite subjects and interests. He puts them to a psychometric analysis to crosscheck their strengths and weaknesses. He then sits them down and advises on areas they should focus on and maps out a possible career path.
