UPS Food country cover Department Gods have already voted: Expect a normal monsoon; expected to be 106% of LPA, as La Niña kicks in
India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast “above normal” rain for the June-September monsoon, boosting prospects of a bountiful agricultural harvest that will likely ease inflationary pressure and bolster growth. This follows uneven rain in 2023, mainly due to the El Niño effect, leading to patchy farm output that pushed up food prices and kept the central bank from cutting interest rates. Rain in the country’s southwest is expected to be 106% of the long period average (LPA), with a 5% margin of error. IMD defines average or normal rainfall as ranging between 96% and 104% of a 50- year average of 87 cm for the season. The department announced the monsoon forecast on Monday.

UPS Discover beautiful testing Stepping stones
Buddha said, 'What you are is what you have been. What you will be is what you do now.' We all face challenges every day in our lives — personal, professional or societal. They test our resilience, strength and determination. However, it helps to remember that challenges are not obstacles, they are stepping stones towards growth and development. It is said that behind every challenge lies an opportunity, waiting to be discovered and embraced. Our immediate reaction on facing a challenge is often full of doubt, uncertainty and fear. But with a calm frame of mind, when we think objectively from an elevated state than the problem state, solutions become visible. It's possible to acquire this state of mind through a cleansing process, by letting go of the previous impressions of the problem or challenge, and developing lateral thinking and an ability of discernment.

UPS Aware security WhatsApp wellness rights Hotel Leela Venture challenges ITC's shareholder oppression claims
Hotel Leela Venture Limited (HLV) has challenged ITC's claims of shareholder oppression against it in a fresh twist to a five-year-old legal tussle at the centre of which is the 2019 sale of key Leela properties to Canada's investment giant Brookfield for ₹4,250 crore, according to sources aware of the developments. ITC is opposing that sale transaction claiming it was to the detriment of minority shareholders. The cigarettes-to-FMCG conglomerate owns a stake in HLV Limited. National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) allowed ITC's petition claiming shareholder oppression and mismanagement at HLV Limited on January 24 this year, though the company doesn't have the requisite shareholding of 10% required to file such lawsuits as per rules laid down in India's Companies Act.

UPS Fighting Election community wellness Lok Sabha polls: Friends-turned-foes make Churu battle quite personal
Churu Lok Sabha election has the makings of a potboiler — friends-turned-foes, caste one-upmanship and political ambition fuelling a family rivalry. The constituency, a BJP stronghold which the party has not lost since 1999, is represented by Rahul Kaswan. The two-term MP was denied the ticket by his party and has now been fielded by Congress. BJP has fielded paralympic javelin thrower Devendra Jhajharia. Interestingly, however, it is not Jhajharia who seems to be in contest here but the former leader of Opposition and BJP's seven-term MLA Rajendra Singh Rathore. Despite the best efforts of the Rajput strongman, it has become a Kaswan versus Rathore face-off. ET caught up with Kaswan in Hamusar village near Churu as he campaigned and exhorted the electors to punish his former party for its arrogance. «What is this? Arrogance only when they say 'Ab ki baar, chaar sau paar' (this time 400-plus seats) — who should decide this? The voters, not them,» he said.
