Hitman the Batman: Whether batting or leading India, Rohit is an artist at work
Rohit Sharma does not realise the full extent of it, but he has a deeply expressive face. Rohit tries, at all times, to stay calm and remain on an even keel, but his eyes unfailingly give away what’s buzzing in that brain and what is tugging at his heart. You saw a clear demonstration of this earlier in the Champions Trophy when Kuldeep Yadav failed to gather a throw from Virat Kohli. Rohit, who was backing up, let the bowler have a spontaneous spray. Just what are you thinking? Or are you thinking at all? Those seemed the questions. When he meets the ball with the full face of his broad bat and it makes exactly the right sound, Rohit almost freezes. He holds his shape, watching the ball do as he has commanded, piercing the field or clearing it and racing to the boundary. If you commissioned a sculptor to make a statue that used still life to show the poetry in motion of batting, this would be it. And there are times when even Rohit can’t help but stop and admire what he has just done.

Realtors unlock sops, freebies to bring back homebuyers
Developers, which previously experienced strong demand following the pandemic, are now reintroducing incentives to attract buyers. Offers such as «1% payment now,» fully furnished homes, modular kitchen and even free parking spaces have resurfaced, indicating a shift in market dynamics. However, cash discounts are still limited. In the newspapers, one can find offers such as Godrej Properties offering a 1% monthly payment plan, while M3M Developers has a 'move-in now, pay later' plan that allows buyers to pay 20% after two years. PARAS Buildtech has promised a 50% per annum return with its buyback scheme, and Shriram Properties offers 'zero extras' with savings of up to ₹25 lakh. To stimulate housing sales, property developers are enhancing incentives for homebuyers, particularly in the 3BHK and above apartment sizes segments, where sales have remained sluggish.

Uproar in J&K assembly over Kathua deaths
The LG administration has ordered an inquiry into the incident, but locals have demanded action against the police officials and setting up of Village Defence Guards (VDG) in the area. The VDG, formerly known as Village Defence Committee, is a civilian militia first established in the mid-1990s in Chenab Valley of Jammu division to counter the militancy in remote hilly villages along the Line of Control. The districts of Kathua, Samba, Doda and Kishtwar in Jammu, which were peaceful for two decades, have reported several militant incidents over the past two years. During the ongoing budget session of J&K assembly, the legislators protested against the deaths and demanded swift action. Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather said an inquiry has been ordered into the incident and it cannot be debated further in the assembly. «I spoke with home minister sahib for the past three days and he is continuously monitoring the situation. He told me that Union home secretary and Director Intelligence Bureau was sent to assess the situation on ground,» leader of the BJP in J&K assembly Sunil Sharma informed the House. J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah informed the House that it was interesting to note that police allowed BJP leaders to visit the spot but did not allow the deputy CM from the ruling National Conference to visit Billawar citing the «sensitive situation» at the spot.

Faceless killers
He tries to remember. But sleep is like a black hole. A well that reveals nothing of its contents. At least I didn't dream about the bulls, he thinks. Then I would have been hot and sweaty, as if I had suffered through a fever during the night. This time the bulls left me in peace. He lies still in the darkness and listens. His wife's breathing at his side is so faint that he can scarcely hear it. One of these mornings she'll be lying dead beside me and I won't even notice, he thinks. Or maybe it'll be me. Daybreak will reveal that one of us has been left all alone.

A tonic for atomic: Reforms package can provide a turning point in India’s nuclear energy programme
Indo-US nuclear deal — especially expanding atomic power through foreign and private collaboration — in deep freeze is positive. But it has also put the spotlight on one of the most coveted, yet closed, spaces of India's security system: the atomic energy establishment. What this budget set rolling is just the beginning of a series of crucial decisions that could necessitate the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) to make a fundamental shift in its approach. Which is why it may not be an easy path ahead. The first decision relates to management of the nuclear fuel cycle. At present, the entire cycle from mining the ore, obtaining nuclear fuel, to electricity production and then waste management is under DAE's strict control. The Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) ensures safety oversight in a tightly controlled affair monitored by the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC).
