One of the most delicious things I’ve eaten so far this year was a creamy soup made from sorrel, a lemony-sharp green leaf that is hard to get hold of unless you grow it yourself. Sorrel soup is a specialty at Castle Farm, Midford, a restaurant in the English countryside near the town of Bath, and when my companions and I took our first spoonfuls, our eyes widened. The soup itself was creamy and smooth: think Vichyssoise, only warm, not cold.

UPS Waters Aware Action Gap strain Delhi water crisis: Atishi writes to Union Minister Gajendra Shekhawat seeking urgent intervention
water crisis in the National Capital, Delhi Water Minister Atishi on Friday wrote a letter to Union Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Shekhawat seeking his urgent intervention in the matter. In her letter, Atishi said, «As you are aware, Delhi is heavily dependent on water from the Yamuna River to meet its day-to-day demand for water. However, in the last few days, there has been a drastic dip in the water levels at the Wazirabad Barrage as Haryana is not releasing the required amount of water in the Yamuna River. This has resulted in a massive crisis of water in the national capital. Moreover, the temperature in Delhi has touched almost 50 degrees. This has further intensified the demand for water putting an additional burden on the already strained demand-supply chain of potable drinking water in Delhi.» She also mentioned that if Haryana does not release adequate water, then plants in Delhi will not be able to function optimally.

UPS FIVE Waters Election community DAL Lok Sabha Elections: Is the kaleen rolling out for Apna Dal's Anupriya didi in Mirzapur season 3?
Mirzapur, a district made famous by an OTT series, has never seen an incumbent MP win a third term. Anupriya Patel, the sitting MP since 2014 from Apna Dal (Sonelal) and a part of the NDA, is determined to break this streak. At 43, she faces a strong challenge from Ramesh Chand Bind, a 50-year-old who switched from BJP to SP after being denied a ticket in his home constituency, Bhadohi. The Mirzapur parliamentary seat includes five assembly segments: Chhanbey, Mirzapur, Majhawan, Chunar, and Marihaan. While the fictional character "Kaleen Bhaiya" belongs to the reel world, real-life carpet traders in the region are looking for a representative who can address their business issues. Rajesh Kumar, vice-president of the All India Carpet Manufacturers’ Association, noted that although the «one district, one product» scheme has helped build the Bhadohi-Mirzapur carpet brand, the industry still lacks adequate support. He told TOI that recent years have seen the removal of incentives and the introduction of more regulations, which have hurt the business.

COST UPS Citi Waters economy country Destinations India's plan of becoming the fastest-growing G20 nation may hinge on the weather
India exists at all. By some miracle of human ingenuity and industry, a land area barely bigger than Argentina with less water than Colombia is able to support nearly a fifth of the world’s population. The record-breaking temperatures above 52 degrees Celsius (125.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in the capital New Delhi this week are a warning sign, however. The magic spell that has sustained this achievement is coming close to breaking. That’s an issue not just for those sweltering on the streets of the world’s second-biggest city, but for the path to wealth that 1.4 billion people hope to follow. India has a far poorer natural endowment of land than Europe, North America and China, the continental economies that preceded it on the road to riches. Even the fragile benefits that its citizens have managed to eke out of this unpromising soil might now be slipping further away, as climate change exposes its deep fragility and washes away the foundations of growth.
