Centre okays NIA courts in Imphal districts
An order issued by the counterterrorism division of MHA said: «In exercise of the powers conferred by section 11 of the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008, the central government, in consultation with the chief justice of the High Court of Manipur, hereby, designates the court of district and sessions judge, Imphal East, and the court of district and sessions judge, Imphal West, as NIA special court-I and NIA special court-II, respectively, in Manipur for the trial of the scheduled offences investigated by the National Investigation Agency.» Due to the absence of a designated court, the Supreme Court had recently allowed the NIA request to transfer eight criminal cases from Imphal court to Assam. The court observed, «The prevailing conditions in Manipur are not conducive for ensuring a free and fair trial.»

Spring onion’s freshness and South Korea’s protests
Spring Onion Revolt. South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol’s crisis crystallised after a recent supermarket appearance where he said the price of 875 won for a bunch of spring onions was reasonable. Koreans noted this was a just temporary discount at that supermarket spurred by subsidies. The real market price was between 3,000 and 4,000 won. Yoon appeared out of touch and duplicitous. Protestors waved spring onions, their long green leaves a vivid rebuke to the president. His party lost its parliamentary majority, precipitating a political confrontation in which the president declared martial law on December 3. Six hours later, massive protests and a parliamentary vote forced Yoon into a humiliating reversal. The vegetables most associated with Korean cuisine are cabbages, used for their iconic fermented kimchi, or medicinal plants like ginseng and mugwort. But spring onions are valued too, their mild pungency and green freshness putting them in both herb and vegetable categories. They are fermented into pa-kimchi and fried in pajeon pancakes.

Spectre of Trump spurs a final round of rate moves
Central banks on four continents will make a final flurry of changes to borrowing costs in the coming week, before Donald Trump's return to the White House raises the prospect of global trade turmoil. By the time policymakers from Australia, Canada, Brazil and the euro zone convene for their first scheduled meetings of 2025, the US president-elect will have taken office, and a potential wave of tariffs could be closer to reality. The impending change in America will help cement a particularly unsynchronized phase in monetary policy, as various economies contend with different inflation risks.

The rhythmic sound of waves lapping against the shore — no matter the traffic noise — adds to the sensory symphony. It's a melody that soothes the soul, making life extra-ordinary. In these minutes, especially short otherwise in December, time seems to stand still. The chaos of the world fades, leaving only the mirror of the waters and the quiet fire of the sun descending into its embrace. It's a sight that evokes both humility and awe. Here, one is reminded of life's simple pleasures, the beauty that exists without cost or effort.
