BTS’ member Jin reveals he lost his temper at a fellow soldier during military service, shares he was called ‘God’ by squad members!
BTS member Kim Seokjin aka Jin, recently revealed that he got into a bad spat with a fellow soldier during his military service. ‘The Astronaut’ hitmaker said that he lost his temper with a junior who refused to be repentant even after committing a mistake. In an interview with Weverse Magazine, the singer admitted that he lost his cool after a subordinate in the army refused to apologise and own up to his mistake. “One soldier did something wrong but kept joking around and saying, 'I’ll figure it out myself, sir' and I told him, 'It’s okay if you make mistakes. It’s not like I know everything. I make mistakes, too. But if a senior soldier tells you to do something, you have to at least pretend to listen. You can’t keep goofing around like that. I get it—everyone’s different. But you at least have to figure out why you made that mistake. I’ll tell you how to do it one more time, so don’t mess around anymore, " he told the magazine.

Earnings may decelerate from current levels for next 1-2 years: Sridhar Sivaram
«I think inflation was one of the concerns. The other thing to a large extent was the candidate selection which was what coming in various constituencies that the candidate selection, people were unhappy because they were sitting MPs and had not done enough and of course the chemistry and mathematics of cycle and hand was working quite well,» says Sridhar Sivaram, Enam Holdings. At one point in time used to be the bandit area of UP, but now has the things changed in the rural side? Sridhar Sivaram: No, so, actually I went pre the election results and the ground feedback was similar to the results. I mean the feedback we got was about 10 to 15 seats lesser in UP than what they got the previous time more because of the selection of candidates. I mean Lakhimpur Kheri itself is a controversial constituency because of the person who was standing there.

Here's why Abhay Agarwal is bullish on the manufacturing sector
«We see good opportunities in the pharma space, especially pharma generic exporter companies which have not performed well for many years. I think there are opportunities in the less popular sectors where money can be made over the next two to three years,» says Abhay Agarwal, Piper Serica. Which stocks are you probably going to keep in the family for a long, long time? HDFC Bank used to be considered a part of that family jewel. You also had the likes of Titan, etc. But all of these defensives are under pressure right now. Do you think it is time to churn the portfolio? Or if you have a long view, should you just stick with them? What is your view? Abhay Agarwal: Regarding HDFC Bank, and not just HDFC Bank but all private sector banks, this is not a buy or sell recommendation. We have not had HDFC Bank in our portfolio since January last year, once they announced the merger with HDFC Limited. The reason is that for large-cap private sector banks, the peak Net Interest Margin (NIM) is already behind us.

How over-indulgent parents hurt their finances for their children
Such parents repeatedly tell children that their lives are dedicated to them. Many are prepared to do whatever it takes to provide what they think is the best for their children. This indulgence begins with birthday parties and treats, moves on to coaching classes and courses of choice, and extends to setting them up and subsidising their adult lives. The less we talk about lavish weddings, the better. Financial planners indicate that children’s education is the top financial goal for most parents. They save aggressively to make this happen. They work well beyond providing reasonably for their children. A combination of factors is at play: parents want their dreams fulfilled by children; they relive their lives through them; they compete in social circles over the accomplishments of their children; they believe that indulging every whim is a mark of good parenting; they suffer the guilt of being away at work and try to make it up to them, opening the door for manipulation. The list that blames the parents is fairly long.

TCS Q1 profit rises 8.7%; wage hikes, demand slump drag sequential numbers
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) reported a sequential 3.16% drop in net profit in the June quarter due to the impact of wage hikes for many of its 600,000-plus workforce and an unabated slowdown in demand. TCS posted a net profit of Rs 12,040 crore, below analyst expectations but 8.7% up from the year earlier. It reported revenue of Rs 62,613 crore, up 5.4% from the year earlier and 2.25% sequentially. The company didn’t signal any significant uptick in technology services demand, which has hit an all-time low due to macroeconomic uncertainties and geopolitical strife that’s impacted the key markets of the US, the UK and Europe. Much of the incremental growth came from the Rs 15,000 crore deal with state-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) signed last year that led to its India business showing a jump of 61.8% from the year earlier.

Deepfakes and Indian elections: A case of much ado about nothing
As the age of AI dawns upon us, it has brought excitement and trepidation in equal measure. The trepidation was mostly around AI-generated deepfakes and how they could change voter minds, influence elections and thus subvert democracy. This was especially true in India, as almost a billion voters were electing a new government.

Piramal Capital raises $100-million social loan
Piramal Capital & Housing Finance raised its maiden dollar syndicated social loan of $100 million (₹835 crore). The entire loan is pre-funded by Standard Chartered Bank and the foreign lender is expected to syndicate the loan in the next few months. The loan has a three-year maturity, and it is benchmarked to the three-month secured overnight financing rate (SOFR) plus 200 basis points. The prevailing SOFR is 5.3%. «Through this loan, we are trying to tap the overseas market and since a large part of our financing gels well with the social theme, this loan is the first of many to come,» a Standard Chartered Bank official said on condition of anonymity. «All highly-rated NBFCs have to start looking at some amount of financing from the international markets and this route is expected to pick up pace. In fact, there is a lot of global investor appetite for ESG space.»
