India's RuPay card services were also launched in Mauritius. Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and PM Pravind Jugnauth of Mauritius were present on the occasion. Jugnauth said the co-branded RuPay card would be designated as a domestic card in Mauritius. Narendra Modi is likely to visit Jammu later this month to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects. The PM may also address a rally in Jammu division as well. The PM is likely to visit Jammu around February 20 and the administration in Kashmir has been alerted to remain prepared for his possible visit to the Valley also. However, as of now, the officials are yet to receive the PM's exact itinerary. A senior official said they have been formally informed about the PM's visit. «We are yet to get the specific details though,» he said. «Visit of PM anywhere is always of great significance. His visit to Jammu was long overdue and assumes more importance when J&K is undergoing a huge positive change,» said Brigadier (Retd) Anil Gupta, spokesperson of the BJP in J&K. He further said that the PM's visit around February 20 will formally sound the poll bugle in Jammu and Kashmir.

National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and banks in the US and India are in advanced stages of discussions to flesh out a real-time payment linkage between the US and India, said people aware of the developments. The plan seeks to build on the domestic payments body's inroads in setting up cross-country systems. Within the ecosystem of the unified payments interface (UPI), the NPCI is working with Indian banks that have experience with the system as well as foreign banks to develop use-case models and testing pilots, the people cited above told ET. «NPCI is working along with Indian banks and foreign banks to see how they can partner. In addition to talking directly to FedNow or their UPI equivalent on how to connect, they also need the large US banks to partner so that the use-case, testing, etc happens. The process is in advanced stages,» a person said.
