Special judge Vishal Gogne heard the arguments on framing of charges in the IRCTC corruption case and has scheduled for April 21 for hearing the further arguments. Senior advocate Maninder Singh, counsel for Lalu Prasad Yadav, argued that there are no irregularities on the part of Lalu Prasad Yadav. The tenders were awarded in a fair manner. There is no sufficient evidences to frame charges against Lalu Prasad Yadav. He deserved to be discharged of the charges. On March 1, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had concluded its arguments on charges against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav and other accused persons. This case is related to alleged corruption in tender of the IRCTC hotels. Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) D P Singh, along with Advocate Manu Mishra, had argued that there was corruption and conspiracy in the allotment of maintenance contracts for two hotels of IRCTC to a private company.

Yes Bank on Saturday said it has received a demand notice of Rs 2,209 crore for the assessment year 2019-20. The said assessment year was reopened by the income-tax department in April 2023, Yes Bank said in a regulatory filing. The reassessment order was passed by the National Faceless Assessment Unit of the income-tax department on March 28, wherein no additional disallowances or additions were made, that is, the grounds on which the reassessment proceedings were initiated have been dropped, it said. Thus, the total income that was assessed in the original assessment order passed under section 144 of the Income Tax Act has remained unchanged in the reassessment order and consequently, no demand should have been raised against the bank, it said.

Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said in a statement on Saturday, renewing a deal meant to alleviate Lebanon's acute power shortage. Under the heavy fuel oil deal, first agreed in July 2021, Iraq provides the Lebanese government with the fuel in exchange for services including health care for Iraqi citizens. Lebanon then swaps the heavy fuel oil for gas oil that it can use at its power stations. Kolkata Metro will run slightly fewer services along the North-South and Sealdah-Sector 5 routes on Eid-ul-Fitr, which is scheduled to be celebrated on March 31, it said in a statement. Customs officials seized exotic wildlife, including including king snakes, monitor lizards and turtles, at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneshwar on Saturday. The seized wildlife were concealed in chocolate boxes and were being smuggled from Thailand capital, Bangkok. They were being taken to Chennai, Injeet Kumar Mohanty, a Customs official engaged at the airport, told PTI. The luggage of a person from Chennai was searched after officials received a tip-off. Following the search, seizures were made, he said, adding the passenger was detained and was being questioned. As many as nine California king snakes, 10 pig nose turtles and 12 Nile monitor lizards were seized, of which three lizards were dead, he said. Personnel of the federal disaster contingency force are being deployed under Operation Brahma, with quake rescue equipment such as strong concrete cutters, drill machines, hammers and plasma cutting machines to provide support to the neighbouring country. «A team of 80 NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) personnel are being sent to Myanmar aboard two IAF (Indian Air Force) sorties from Hindon in Ghaziabad. Both teams are expected to reach Nay Pyi Taw by Saturday evening,» an official told PTI. Commandant PK Tiwary of the 8th NDRF battalion based in Ghaziabad near Delhi is leading the Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team.

Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe was booked by Nagpur police for defamation for allegedly claiming that former journalist Prashant Koratkar was arrested in the presence of a man working in the office of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has revoked the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage-I in Delhi-NCR after the national capital's Air Quality Index was recorded at 153 (moderate category) on Saturday. As of now, Stage I of GRAP is in force vide the order dated March 24, 2025. The CAQM mentioned that the AQI of the national capital showed significant improvement due to strong surface winds and improved meteorological conditions prevailing in Delhi-NCR. «The AQI of Delhi has been recorded as 153 for March 29 (in the 'Moderate' category). Further, the forecast by IMD/IITM also predicts AQI will mainly remain in the 'Moderate' category in coming days,» the CAQM said in a release. «The Sub-Committee, accordingly, decides to revoke its order dated March 24, 2025, invoking actions under Stage-I ('Poor' Air Quality) of the extant GRAP in the entire NCR, with immediate effect,» it said.

Vedanta has extended the deadline of the demerger of its businesses from March 31, 2025 to September 30, 2025 citing pending approvals from government authorities and National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). Maihar district administration has banned the purchase and sale of meat, fish, and eggs within the limits of Maihar Nagar Palika during the Navratri festival from March 30 to April 7. Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Maihar, Vikas Kumar Singh, issued an order for the purpose on Friday under section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, which grants the power to issue immediate preventive orders in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger. «I, Vikas Kumar Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Maihar, hereby, using the powers conferred under Section 163 of the BNSS 2023, completely ban the purchase and sale of meat, fish and eggs in the entire Maihar Nagar Palika from March 30, 2025 to midnight of April 7, 2025,» the order read. It further emphasised that the person violating the order would be liable to punishment under section 223 of the Bharatiya Naya Sahita (BNS) 2023 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant). The order also highlighted that Maa Sharday Chaitra Navratri Mela would be organized in Maihar district from March 30 to April 7. Maihar has been declared a religious city by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department and lakhs of devotees come to Maihar every day from across the country to seek blessings of Maa Sharda.
