NIA judge hearing the 2008 Malegaon blasts case, Judge AK Lahoti, has been named in the general transfer list of district judges released by the Bombay High Court. The lawyer representing the families of the blast victims had earlier written to the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, urging his intervention to retain Judge Lahoti in Mumbai. Judge AK Lahoti has been transferred from the Mumbai court to Nashik. The general transfer list released by the Bombay HC names more than 200 district judges. The judges are directed to assume office on June 9, after the court reopens for summer vacation. Earlier, on March 20, the lawyer representing the victims' families wrote to Bombay Chief Justice Alok Aradhe urging his intervention to retain Judge Lahoti, as the arguments on the 2008 Malegaon case are almost over. «The present letter is a sincere request on behalf of the victims to retain the Hon'ble Special Judge Shri A K Lahoti at the Hon'ble City Civil and Sessions Court for Greater Bombay, at Mumbai,» read the lawyer's letter.

Enforcement Directorate (ED) probing a money laundering and alleged forex violation case against Indian Premier League (IPL) founder Lalit Modi has recently sent a letter rogatory (LR) to Singapore and Hong Kong seeking details of the alleged money trail that the agency is investigating to trace the ultimate beneficiary, if any, sources in the know told ET. Between 2008 and 2010, Modi was the IPL chief before being sacked by BCCI after allegations of financial misconduct linked to alleged proxy ownership of the franchises surfaced.

Indian Peacekeeping Force (IPKF) deployed in Sri Lanka nearly four decades back. On the second day of his visit, Modi visited the IPKF Memorial in this Sri Lankan capital city and laid a wreath. In a social media post, Modi said the «unwavering courage and commitment» of the brave soldiers of the IPKF remained a «source of inspiration for us all.» «Laid a wreath at the IPKF Memorial in Colombo. Brewers' Association of India (BAI) said in a letter to the state government. Taxes on beer have been increased three times in the last 18 months — in July 2023, February 2024, and January 2025, and as a result, the growth in sales of beer in the state, which has always been healthy, has «slumped to stagnation», it said. «After the third tax increase in January 2025, beer sales have actually started contracting for the first time,» said a letter by BAI Director-General Vinod Giri.

Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, affected by flood, flash flood, cloudburst, landslides and cyclonic storm in 2024. Kunal Kamra failed to appear before the Mumbai police on Saturday in connection with a case registered against him for allegedly passing a «traitor» jibe at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, an official said. This is the third time Kamra has given police summons a miss, the official said. The Khar police booked Kamra on a complaint by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel for allegedly making defamatory remarks against the deputy chief minister during a show. Kamra shot a video lampooning Shinde over the split in the Shiv Sena, and party workers later ransacked the studio and the hotel in which it is located on the night of March 23. The official said the Mumbai police asked Kamra to appear before it on April 5, issuing summons to him for the third time. Earlier this week, a team from the Khar police visited his residence in Mahim after he skipped the second summons.

Nissan will not accept any additional orders of the Infiniti QX50 and QX55 SUVs for the U.S. market produced at the COMPAS plant it has run together with Mercedes-Benz in Mexico. Nissan said production is expected to continue for those models sold in other markets. It remained unclear how much of the production is sold in other markets. The two Infiniti models have only been exported from Mexico to the U.S., according to data from Mexico's national statistics agency. A Japan-based Nissan spokesperson said on Saturday the models are produced for and exported to markets such as Mexico, Panama, the Middle East and Canada, without providing details on its production plans for the vehicles.
