Trinamool Congress on Friday announced candidates for the July 10 by-elections to four assembly seats in West Bengal. The Mamata Banerjee-led party has nominated Krishna Kalyani from Raiganj seat and Mukut Mani Adhikari from Ranaghat-Dakshin constituency. Supti Pandey, the widow of former TMC MLA Sadhan Pandey, has been fielded from Maniktala seat in Kolkata, while Madhuparna Thakur has been nominated from Matua-dominated Bagda seat. Raiganj and Ranaghat assembly segments fell vacant after Kalyani and Adhikari, both BJP MLAs, switched over to the TMC and unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha polls.

Delhi's Chandni Chowk area. Flames were still simmering under some collapsed portions of buildings and a cooling operation is underway, officials said on Friday. The fire broke out in Chandni Chowk's Old Katra Marwadi Market around 5 pm on Thursday. There were no casualties. Delhi experienced its fifth consecutive day of heatwaves on Thursday and IMD predicted that this trend will continue for the next five days, with maximum temperatures expected to range between 44 and 45 degrees Celsius. There is, however, a chance of thunderstorms, lightning, and light rain at isolated locations on Friday afternoon or evening. The maximum temperature on Thursday recorded at the Safdarjung Observatory, considered the official marker of the city, was 4.9 notches above normal at 44.8 degrees Celsius. The Najafgarh weather station recorded a maximum temperature of 45.1 degrees Celsius, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Documented Dreamers are foreign nationals who entered the United States as dependents under their parents' temporary, nonimmigrant visa status, usually a work visa. Despite growing up in the US with legal status, children of long-term visa holders age out of their dependent status when they turn 21 and are often left with no choice but to leave the United States if they cannot transition to a new status, the lawmakers said in a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Ur M Jaddou.

MCA) has slapped penalties totalling Rs 8,14,200 on Samsung Display Noida Private Ltd, its managing director Seung Kyu Lee and three others for alleged violation of the significant beneficial owner (SBO) norms under the Companies Act, 2013. In its order dated June 12, reviewed by ET, the Registrar of Companies (RoC) for Uttar Pradesh under the MCA has said the company «has failed to exercise the due diligence to ascertain the SBO in terms of the provisions of the section 90 of the Act». As per Samsung Display Noida's February 2024 letter cited in the order, it's fully owned by Samsung Display Co (Korea), which, in turn, is 84.8% owned by Samsung Electronics Co (Korea). Section 90 of the Companies Act, 2013, typically requires companies to disclose their significant beneficial owner details to authorities.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the appointment of PK Mishra, IAS (retired), as Principal Secretary to the prime minister, with effect from June 10 and his term will be co-terminus with the term of the PM or until further orders.
