Aam Aadmi Party leader and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday said that if his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal is sent to jail, they will approach the court seeking permission to set up his office in prison to run his government from there. He also asserted that no one can take the place of Kejriwal in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). «It is not written anywhere that a government cannot run from jail,» Mann told PTI videos in an interview when asked about the arrest of the Delhi chief minister and AAP chief by the Enforcement Directorate in an excise policy case and how he will run his government if he is sent to judicial custody. The BJP has demanded the resignation of Kejriwal after he was remanded in ED custody till March 28.

Maruti Suzuki India on Saturday said it has acquired over 6 per cent stake in technology startup Amlgo Labs. The startup operates in data analytics, cloud engineering, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) to assist companies in data-driven decision-making. The investment is being made through Maruti Suzuki Innovation Fund, an initiative to undertake strategic investments in startups exhibiting high levels of technological innovation, the auto major said in a statement.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said the state government has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding a direction to the Centre to immediately release grants under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to the state, which is reeling under acute drought. Accusing the Centre of sitting on Karnataka's pleas for release of funds though there is a severe drought, he said the state government was compelled to approach the apex court. «Today the Karnataka government filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against the Centre after waiting for five months. Since there is vacation for a week in the Supreme Court, we did not get the endorsement. We expect it next week,» Siddaramaiah told reporters here. The petition was filed under Article 32 of the Indian Constitution to give directions to the Government of India to release NDR Funds immediately, which was supposed to be released by the Centre according to law, he explained.

BJP over its support to the Ajit Pawar-led party for the Lok Sabha elections in Lakshadweep. «This is BJP making a mockery and joke out of the Ajit Pawar group and shamelessly trying to show that they are magnanimous in their support. »They got only 125 votes in the last Lok Sabha elections in Lakshadweep and were a failure. BJP is showing what the Ajit Pawar group means to them," Clyde Crasto, national spokesperson NCP (SP), wrote on X. Governor C V Ananda Bose on Saturday asserted that there would be no interference on his part in the Lok Sabha poll process, a day after the TMC accused him of meddling in it. Bose said that any political party has every right to complain against any action taken by any functionary, including the governor, stating that he respects that freedom. «There will be no interference by the governor in the election process,» he said while speaking at a function here. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) had on Friday filed a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against Bose, accusing him of unlawfully meddling in the Lok Sabha poll process and trying to run a parallel office similar to the EC.

Gurugram court on Saturday granted bail to Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav in a case of assault against YouTuber Sagar Thakur alias Maxtern, said police. «The court heard the bail application and granted bail in the case. He will have to furnish a bail bond which would be submitted in the court,» said his counsel, Advocate Himanshu Yadav. The Gurugram Police had on Wednesday filed an application seeking a production warrant for Elvish Yadav, who was then lodged in Noida jail. Judicial Magistrate First Class Harsh Kumar had ordered Elvish to appear in court on March 27, but the Noida Police reached the Gurugram court along with Elvish on Saturday.

AAP office in Delhi has been "sealed off" from all sides, senior leader Atishi claimed on Saturday and said the party will report the matter to the Election Commission. In a post on X, Atishi questioned the «sealing» of the party office, saying it is against the «level playing field» promised by the Constitution. «How can access to a national party office be stopped during the Lok Sabha election? This (is) against the 'level playing field' promised in the Indian Constitution. We are seeking time with the Election Commission (EC) to complain against this,» the Delhi minister said in her post. Another senior AAP leader and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that all access to the party office has been closed by the central government.

UltraTech Cement has commissioned 1 million tonne of brownfield capacity at its plant at Roorkee in Uttarakhand, taking the unit’s total capacity to 2.1 million tonne per year. “This forms part of the 22.6 mtpa capacity expansion announced in June, 2022,” the company said in an exchange filing on Friday. UltraTech, a part of the Aditya Birla Group, is the largest producer of cement in the country, and with Friday’s commissioning, has the capacity to produce 138.39 million tonne of grey cement each year.

Delhi court on Friday sent Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to the Enforcement Directorate's custody till March 28, a day after his arrest in the excise policy-linked money laundering case. Special Judge Kaveri Baweja at the Rouse Avenue court said that Kejriwal will be produced before the court on March 28 at 2 p.m. During the proceedings, ED told a special PMLA court that Arvind Kejriwal is kingpin and key conspirator of Delhi liquor scam in collusion with his ministers, AAP leaders.

Supreme Court on Friday took note of Swiss financial services firm Credit Suisse submission’s that SpiceJet has cleared its outstanding dues and is no longer in default as on date. A Bench led by Justice Hima Kohli while posting the matter for further hearing in July noted the submissions made by senior counsel Liz Mattews, appearing for Credit Suisse, that “matter should be taken up after three months to ensure that they (Spicejet) don’t default as they have been doing in the past,” The court was hearing a contempt petition filed by Credit Suisse against Singh over the non-payment of dues despite a court-approved commercial settlement arrived at between the Swiss firm and the low-cost airline in 2021. The dispute arises from SpiceJet's alleged failure to honour invoices raised by Credit Suisse.

Jai Ram Thakur on Friday claimed that the Congress has been trying to woo back its six rebel leaders, who had cast their votes for the BJP candidate against party lines in the last month's Rajya Sabha polls. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Thakur said that a piquant situation prevails in the party with rounds of persuasion taking place to bring the rebels back into the fold.
