COST Provident Booking Sustainability WhatsApp wellness ITAT grants partial relief to ICICI Bank
Mumbai bench of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal has allowed ICICI Bank Ltd to avail ₹1,855 crore bad debt write-off as deduction, but dismissed the private bank's appeal seeking ₹502-crore worth long-term capital loss allowance. The appellate tribunal was hearing ICICI Bank's appeal against an order of principal commissioner of Income tax (PCIT) for 2015-16. The PCIT had ruled that an allowance of long-term capital loss of ₹996 crore was irregular and that the bank had claimed an excess capital loss of ₹502 crore. The bank had calculated capital gain and capital loss while acquiring and selling shares, applying the cost of inflation index on foreign currency rather than Indian currency, it said. The ITAT bench of Sandeep Singh Karhail and Prashant Maharishi upheld the order of PCIT and observed that ICICI Bank transacted in Indian currency and, therefore, it could not have indexed the cost of inflation on foreign currency.

The farmers have been stopped by the government from entering Delhi and placing their demands. They protested in 2020-21 too and after many lives were lost, the government took back the three farm laws as demanded by the farmers,» he said in a statement. WhatsApp President performer reports BJP to win big but there is no Modi magic: Subramanian Swamy
BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Sunday claimed «a surge in Hindu pride» was likely to boost the party's prospects in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, but discounted the role of "Modi magic". The maverick leader, who was here to take part in a 'law conclave', asserted that in the BJP, and its ideological parent RSS, greater value was attached to 'sangathan' (organisation) and 'siddhant' (principles) than to individuals. «I too believe that the BJP will surpass its previous electoral performances because, for the first time, Hindus are feeling proud of their identity. They no longer feel the diffidence that was thrust upon them during Nehru's time,» Swamy told reporters, responding to queries about PM Modi's claim of the party winning more than 370 seats and the NDA crossing the 400-mark. The former Union minister, however, added, «Some people may think that this change has taken place because of them. We need not attach importance to such things… I do not think there is anything like Modi magic. Individuals are not put on a pedestal in BJP-RSS. That has been Congress culture.»
