Maldives has deported 186 foreigners, including 43 Indians, after accusing them of committing crimes like visa violations and drug offences, according to a media report. The highest number of people deported was from Bangladesh. At least 83 Bangladeshis were deported followed by 43 Indians, 25 Sri Lankans and 8 Nepalis. The date of their deportation is not yet known, Male-based news outlet Adhadhu reported. The deportations come as efforts are underway in the Maldives to shut down businesses operated illegally.

Defence has recently signed a contract with Advanced Weapon Equipment India Ltd. These guns will enable the forces to target small threats that could potentially harm ships, thus strengthening maritime security. The SRCGs' advanced features, including stabilisation and remote control, ensure precise targeting, enhancing operational efficiency and safety for naval personnel. Boost to "Aatmanirbharta in Defence": This procurement aligns with the government's vision of "Aatmanirbharta in Defence," emphasizing self-reliance in defence production. With an Indigenous Content (IC) of over 85%, this contract signifies a major milestone in promoting indigenous defence manufacturing. Moreover, this initiative is expected to create opportunities for over 125 Indian vendors and Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) over the next five years, stimulating the domestic defence industry.

Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party leader Arshid Mehmood Khan Wednesday joined the BJP along with a number of his supporters in Jammu. Khan, a three-time sarpanch from Dandesar village of Nowshera, and his supporters were welcomed into the BJP by the party's J&K president Ravinder Raina and other senior leaders, including former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta and MP Jugal Kishore.
