Karur Vysya Bank has inaugurated four new branches in Tamil Nadu, under its plan to strengthen presence, taking the overall branch network to 862, the bank said on Sunday. The Tamil Nadu headquartered bank had inaugurated 24 new branches in the current financial year. The four new branches were inaugurated in Madurai, Tiruppur, Krishnagiri and Chennai, a press release said here. The new branches would cater to provide all basic banking transactions and also to specific needs of customers and would also offer the entire spectrum of banking and financial services.

The bus was heading towards the Kurla bus depot from Shivaji Nagar when the victim's two-wheeler came in contact with one of the rear tyres of the bus, and he got run over, the official said. BJP is expected to cede housing ministry to the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra following the likely cabinet expansion in the state, sources said, adding that the BJP will retain the home ministry. The sources said the two BJP allies — Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Deputy CM Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) — will retain the portfolios they had in the previous Mahayuti government except for one additional ministry to the Shiv Sena. With former chief minister Shinde now as one of the two deputies to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the BJP may give his party one more important ministry, they added. Pawar is likely to retain the finance ministry.

Reliance Industries (RIL) has appointed Ira Bindra as group president, responsible for people, leadership, and talent management at the oil-to-retail conglomerate. Maxivision Super Specialty Eye Hospital which entered Gujarat in 2023 has about six hospitals. In recent interviews with potential candidates for leading these regulatory agencies, Trump advisers and officials from the newly established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have inquired about the possibility of the president-elect abolishing the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp, the WSJ said, citing people familiar with the matter. Advisers have asked the nominees under consideration for the FDIC and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, if deposit insurance could then be absorbed into the Treasury Department, the report said.

HDFC Bank on Thursday said the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has issued an administrative warning letter to the bank over certain compliance lapses touching upon the capital-markets domain. HDFC Bank said in an exchange filing that Sebi mentioned non-compliance with certain provisions of the merchant banking rules, capital and disclosure requirements and prohibition of insider trading regulations.

Rijiju has insulted opposition members and used personal terms against opposition MPs both inside and outside the House,» Ghosh said in the notice to the Rajya Sabha secretariat. Amid the tussle between Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and the Opposition (which has submitted a notice for impeaching the Vice-President), Rijiju backed him in the House on Thursday and attacked the Opposition in what the latter termed «derogatory language». Rijiju had said the Opposition is not worth of being in the House. He also praised Dhankhar and expressed his gratitude that a leader like him is Chairman of the House.

Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) has helped in detection of undisclosed income of Rs 11,000 crore and seizure of 461 kg of narcotic drugs, the finance ministry said on Thursday. The FIU under the finance ministry collects, analyses and disseminates information to law enforcement agencies about suspicious financial transactions pertaining to money laundering, terror and proliferation financing. The intelligence shared by FIU-IND with agencies has led to Rs 983 crore worth of assets attached, Rs 2,763 crore worth criminal proceeds identified and Rs 10,998 crore undisclosed income detected.
