Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered auctioning of the Fortis trademark in connection with the ₹3,500 crore arbitral award passed in favour of Japanese pharma major Daiichi Sankyo and against the former Ranbaxy promoters. Justice Sachin Datta passed the order on an application filed by Daiichi Sankyo seeking the sale of the Fortis trademark, owned by RHC Healthcare Management Services which is one of the judgment debtors in the matter.

Sebi chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch by alleging she had rented a property to a company controlled by people, who had held senior positions in a firm that had been under the watch of the regulator, and the party claimed that it amounted to conflict of interest. «Ms Madhabi Buch owns another flat in Mumbai. In 2021-22, she earned rental income from a property rented out to a company called Green World Buildcon and Infra. This company is owned by Mukul and Vipul Bansal. Mukul Bansal has a significant background with Indiabulls Group, being part of its senior management and being on the board of several related companies. Indiabulls Group, where Mukul Bansal has been involved, has faced several cases with Sebi, with multiple adjudication orders and regulatory actions between 2021 and 2022,» said Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera at an official briefing. He said this was in violation of Sebi's code on conflict of interest for members of board. Biden administration finalised restrictions on investments by US individuals and companies into advanced technology in China, including semiconductors, quantum computing and artificial intelligence. The rules, which come after more than a year of deliberation, ban some investments into those industries and require the US government to be notified about others. The goal is to prevent American capital and know-how from helping China develop critical technologies that could lend Beijing a military edge. «US investments, including the intangible benefits like managerial assistance and access to investment and talent networks that often accompany such capital flows, must not be used to help countries of concern develop their military, intelligence, and cyber capabilities,» Paul Rosen, assistant Treasury secretary for investment security, said in a press release.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, contesting assembly polls from Baramati, has movable assets worth more than Rs 8.22 crore, while his immovable assets were valued at Rs 37.15 crore, according to an affidavit submitted by him before the Election Commission. The movable assets of Ajit Pawar, who heads the ruling Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), include two cars — Toyota Camry, Honda CRV — a tractor, silver articles, FDs, shares and bonds, among others, as per the affidavit submitted by him along with nomination papers from the seat in Pune district for the November 20 polls. Ajit Pawar (65), seeking an eighth term from his home turf, filed his nomination papers as the NCP candidate on Monday. His spouse Sunetra Pawar, a Rajya Sabha member, owns movable assets worth Rs 14.57 crore, while the value of immovable assets in her name stood at Rs 58.39 crore, according to the document.

Adani Enterprises on Tuesday reported a 664% year-on-year (YoY) jump in its September quarter consolidated net profit at Rs 1,742 crore versus Rs 228 crore reported by it in the year-ago period. The company's revenue from operations stood at Rs 22,608 crore in the reported quarter which was up 16% as compared to Rs 19,546 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

Cipla Ltd on Tuesday posted 15% growth in its consolidated net profit to Rs 1,303 crore for the quarter ended September 2024, compared with Rs 1,131 crore in the year- ago period. The profit was above the ET Now poll estimates of Rs 1,218 crore. Revenue from operations rose 6% year-on-year to Rs 7,051 crore in the July-September 2024 period as against Rs 6,678 crore in the last year period.

On the other hand, Cyclone Dana has damaged the standing paddy crop in West Bengal and Odisha. Rice prices have already jumped by up to 15% in the last fortnight after the government removed export curbs and may move up further for varieties like Gobindobhog and Swarna. UP produces around 16 mt of potatoes annually while West Bengal cultivates around 9-10 mt. «This year, untimely rains have delayed potato sowing in most of UP. Generally, sowing starts from September 15. This year, however, it started by the end of September and early October. So, the crop will be delayed and arrive in the market slowly from the end November-early December. Prices, therefore, will remain firm till December,» said Ajay Sharma, a leading potato trader from Agra.

Israeli soldiers captured around 100 suspected Hamas militants during a raid in Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza, the military said on Monday. Gaza health officials and Hamas have denied any militant presence at the hospital, which Israeli forces stormed on Friday and left on Saturday. «The soldiers apprehended approximately 100 terrorists from the compound, including terrorists who attempted to escape during the evacuation of civilians. Inside the hospital, they found weapons, terror funds, and intelligence documents,» the military said.

So I want to tell you one thing, come at least once in four months and see them. »When four months were over, when I went to pick up my son the Principal told me please don't come so much. Just like the Principal, you are thinking I would never come. Just like the Principal, you are going to tell after being fed up, please don't come this much," she said. Priyanka further said, just like her son the people of Wayanad are also her family.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday commenced her by-election campaign in the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat by launching a scathing attack on the BJP-led Centre, alleging that the values of the Constitution are constantly being subverted under its rule. West Bengal government has extended the ban on manufacturing, storing and selling gutkha and pan masala products containing tobacco or nicotine for another year, starting November 7. The order was issued by the state health department on October 24, citing public health concerns.

Ajmera Realty & Infra India Limited on Monday reported a 57 per cent increase in its consolidated net profit to Rs 35.35 crore in the September quarter. Its net profit stood at Rs 22.53 crore in the year-ago period. Total income rose to Rs 204.12 crore in the second quarter of the current fiscal from Rs 147.59 crore in the corresponding period a year ago, according to a regulatory filing.
