Diwali, the Union government on Wednesday issued an order for granting an additional instalment of dearness relief to pensioners. The Union Cabinet had, on October 16, approved the additional instalment of dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) at 3 per cent to central government employees as well as pensioners, effective from July 1, 2024. In pursuance, the Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW) has issued an order dated October 30, 2024 for all central government pensioners/family pensioners, the personnel ministry said in a statement. Now central government pensioners, including family pensioners, will become entitled to higher amount of dearness allowance and dearness relief from the existing rate of 50 per cent to 53 per cent of their basic pension/family pension, according to the statement.

Telangana government has taken immediate action to prohibit the production, storage, and sale of mayonnaise made from raw eggs for one year, following multiple complaints linking it to food poisoning cases. The state’s Commissioner of Food Safety issued an official order regarding this ban on Wednesday, as reported by PTI. The decision comes after investigations and feedback from the public indicated that mayonnaise prepared with raw eggs is suspected to be the source of several food poisoning incidents in recent months. Mayonnaise, often referred to as mayo, is a thick, creamy sauce created by emulsifying egg yolks with oil, and it is typically seasoned with vinegar or lemon juice. This versatile condiment is widely used as a dressing or dip in various foods, including sandwiches, salads, appetizers, snacks, and shawarma.

Andhra Pradesh government is all set to launch free distribution of three cooking gas cylinders annually under Deepam-2 scheme to eligible beneficiaries from November 1. According to an official release, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will formally launch the programme on November 1 in Srikakulam even as the first cylinder for those who have already booked will be supplied from tomorrow. As part of this, CM Naidu handed over a check for Rs 894 crore to the petroleum companies towards the cost of the first cylinder. Steel pipes maker JTL Industries Ltd on Wednesday announced increasing its annual manufacturing capacity to 2 lakh tonnes as part of its around Rs 350-crore expansion plan. With this addition, its cumulative pipe manufacturing capacity has reached a level of 6.86 lakh tonne per annum, the company said in an exchange filing. In a filing on Wednesday, JTL Industries said, «It announces successful expansion of its Raipur facility's capacity from 1,00,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) (1 lakh tonne) to 200,000 MTPA». The company is aiming to complete its expansion plan of 4 lakh tonnes by the financial year 2026-27, taking its overall capacity to 10 lakh tonnes per annum, a company official had told PTI earlier.

Prudent Corporate Advisory Services reported a 51% year-on-year (YoY) increase in revenue from operations, reaching Rs 286 crore for quarter ended September 2024, driven by a 53% rise in quarterly average AUM in mutual funds and a 36% growth in non-mutual fund revenue. Operating profit rose 59% YoY to Rs 68.7 crore, while profit after tax jumped 69% YoY to Rs 51.5 crore, buoyed by operational gains and higher treasury income. Trom Industries Ltd on Wednesday announced bagging solar projects worth Rs 33 crore from Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) and Corona Remedies. The company, in an exchange filing, stated that it has secured a Rs 20.70 crore work order from Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Limited for five years. The company will install and maintain grid-connected rooftop solar power projects of 5MW for 15 metro stations of the Ahmedabad Metro Rail project, the filing stated. The supply will start this year in a phased manner. The company has also received a Rs 12.40 crore purchase order from Corona Remedies for commissioning a grid-connected ground-mounted solar PV plant.
