Telangana government has taken immediate action to prohibit the production, storage, and sale of mayonnaise made from raw eggs for one year, following multiple complaints linking it to food poisoning cases. The state’s Commissioner of Food Safety issued an official order regarding this ban on Wednesday, as reported by PTI.
The decision comes after investigations and feedback from the public indicated that mayonnaise prepared with raw eggs is suspected to be the source of several food poisoning incidents in recent months.
Mayonnaise, often referred to as mayo, is a thick, creamy sauce created by emulsifying egg yolks with oil, and it is typically seasoned with vinegar or lemon juice. This versatile condiment is widely used as a dressing or dip in various foods, including sandwiches, salads, appetizers, snacks, and shawarma.
The government’s move aims to ensure public health and safety by addressing the potential risks associated with consuming mayonnaise made from raw eggs.
