2024 Oscar Awards: Jimmy Kimmel takes a dig at Robert Downey and Robert De Niro, ridicules Bradley Cooper too
Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on March 10, Jimmy Kimmel mocked Robert Downey and made an awkward quip about his drug addiction. As the camera panned to the 'Oppenheimer' star, Kimmel said, «This is the highest point of Robert Downey Jr.’s long and illustrious career — well, one of the highest points.» After Downey Jr. tapped on his nose twice, Kimmel said, «Too on the nose? Or is that a drug motion you made?»
Robert Downey, who was nominated for his role as Lewis Strauss in the Best Supporting Actor category at this year’s Academy Awards, made a rolling motion with his hands to push Kimmel to keep the monologue moving.
The 'Iron Man' star was imprisoned in 1999 when he was sentenced to three years behind bars amid his struggle with illicit substances. He spent four months in Los Angeles County jail, which prompted his first wife, Deborah Falconer, to leave him. Downey has been sober since July 2003 but has never shied away from talking about his troubled past.
Kimmel mocks Robert De Niro
Kimmel did not spare 'Godfather' superstar Robert De Niro either. Taking a dig at the veteran actor, Kimmel said in 1976 Jodie Foster was young enough to be Robert De Niro’s daughter, but now she’s 20 years too old to be his girlfriend. The host referred to the film 'Taxi Driver'.
