stalker in Lado Sarai, South Delhi on Thursday morning. As per a TOI report, the suspect, identified as Gaurav Pal, was apprehended by the cab driver and locals before being handed over to the police. He has been charged with attempted murder and will appear in court on Friday.
The victim, Prachi Malik, is currently in critical condition.
According to the police, Pal claimed to have been friends with Prachi for two years, but she had recently started ignoring him. On the day of the incident, Prachi had booked a cab to go for an interview workshop in Vishwas Nagar. Pal, who works as a recruiter for an international firm, had been waiting for her in his i10 car.
He had been trying to contact Prachi since 8 am the previous day, but she had informed him that she was at work and later blocked his number. In response, Pal arrived at 5:30 am to meet her.
Pal alleges that Prachi had been ignoring him for the past month, and the last time they met was 10-12 days ago. An argument ensued when Pal approached Prachi offering to give her a ride to work.
She refused to engage with him, leading to a physical altercation where she slapped him. In an attempt to take her phone, Pal followed her into the cab and allegedly stabbed her with a knife he had brought from home.
Prachi's screams alerted passersby, and the cab driver managed to restrain Pal until the police arrived. The incident was reported around 6:20 am.
