Narendra Modi will spearhead the 78th Independence Day celebrations from Delhi's historic Red Fort. He will unfurl the National Flag and deliver the traditional address to the nation from the fort's ramparts. This year’s theme, ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’, emphasises the government's commitment to transforming India into a developed nation by the year 2047.
78th Independence Day: Special Guests
In a bid to enhance public participation, around 6,000 special guests from diverse backgrounds have been invited to witness the celebrations. These guests include youth, members of the tribal community, farmers, women, and others who have achieved notable success through various government schemes.
The guests will include:
- Students from the Atal Innovation Mission and PM SHRI (Prime Minister’s Schools for Rising India) scheme, as well as volunteers from Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) and the National Service Scheme under ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’.
- Tribal artisans, Van Dhan Vikas members, and Tribal Entrepreneurs supported by the National Scheduled Tribes Finance & Development Corporation.
- Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, and representatives from Farmers Producing Organisations.
- Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM), Anganwadi workers, elected women representatives, and beneficiaries of various empowerment initiatives.
- Members of the Indian contingent from the recently concluded Paris Olympics, block-level representatives from the Aspirational Blocks Programme, Border Roads Organisation workers, PRERANA School students, and sarpanches from Gram Panchayats achieving priority sector scheme saturation.
