While elaborating on the social media roles that are in demand for early-career professionals, Yash Chandiramani, Founder and Strategist, Admatazz, says the role of social media manager is particularly seeing a high demand for freshers as content strategy needs to be done by people who use it and understand it the most.
Apart from that, user experience or UX, though highly underrated in India, is starting to grow. Often confused with UI or web design, user experience is a great career choice. Pursuing a PG course at IIDE or the UX course at HFI is something undergrads should consider, he says. Jai Hind College (Mumbai) has started a full-time graduation in digital strategy, he adds.
According to Sunitha Natrajan, Director of Digital Strategy, Social Panga, roles such as social media manager, head of brands or director of brand solutions are witnessing a surge in demand. To excel in these roles, she says, a strong foundation in social media fundamentals along with strategic thinking from a brand point of view, team management and business acumen are essential.
