After Stanford and Cornell, Harvard freezes hiring amid Trump's federal funding cuts
Donald Trump’s federal policy changes. Harvard University announced a temporary hiring freeze on Monday. The move was confirmed in a notice from Harvard’s President, Dr Alan M Garber, and other senior administrators on Monday.
Harvard is among the ten universities which are currently under federal scrutiny for concerns related to antisemitic protests on campuses.
As per a New York Times report, Harvard’s decision is particularly significant given its $50 billion endowments. Moreover, Dr Garber’s statement did not mention President Trump directly but noted that universities nationwide are facing substantial financial uncertainties due to changes in federal policies.

In their statement, Havard states that universities across the US are facing significant financial uncertainties due to rapidly changing federal policies. The varsity, in their statement, also wrote that the management was taking proactive steps to safeguard its mission of research, teaching and learning.
The university said that drawing from their previous experiences during the Great Recession and the COVID-19 pandemic, they have developed contingency planning tools to navigate the current challenges.
