However, the Ukrainian leader strongly dismissed such a notion during an interview on Sunday with Fox News. Zelensky claimed “No. This decision can only be done by the people of Ukraine,” as quoted in the report. He emphasized that the only Ukraine's people, and not foreign politicians, get to decide if he should step down. He told Fox News, «Americans vote for their presidents… and only Ukrainians vote for Ukrainians.”

According to the report, Zelensky admitted his meeting with Trump hadn't quite worked out as planned and had an unfortunate outcome. He stated «I think it was not good. I just want to be honest, I just want our partners to understand everything correctly… I want to understand everything,» as quoted in the report.
