According to a report by the Indian box-office tracking portal Sacnilk.com, the third installment of Yash Raj Film’s (YRF) espionage series has crossed an impressive Rs 4.2 crore in advanced bookings on day one, through the sale of more than 140000 movie tickets.
Taking to Instagram, trade analyst Taran Adarsh said that the action extravaganza is “running riot in advance booking.”
“#Tiger3 is running riot in advance booking… No #Hindi film has dared to open on #DiwaliDay in *more than a decade*, since film biz takes a dip during certain hours [the evening shows, in particular, are impacted]… Can #Salmania and #Tiger3 do the unthinkable?” reads his post.
In another post, Adarsh revealed that the movie sold 44,500 tickets on its opening day across major multiplex chains. While PVR INOX has sold 37,000 opening day Tiger 3 tickets, Cinepolis managed to sell 7,500 tickets for Khan’s movie.
Box-office tracker Sumit Kadel predicted that the action thriller may mint Rs 40 crore on day one. “#SalmanKhan with correct content is a BOX OFFICE MONSTER #Tiger3 Advance sale indicates the opening of ₹ 40 cr + nett & may go above it on Day -1 This figure is INSANE considering Diwali Laxmi Puja day,” he wrote.
Despite all the hype and impressive advance booking figures, ‘Tiger 3’ has not managed to overthrow the advance bookings of the Shah Rukh Khan-led blockbuster ‘Pathaan’.
The Siddharth Anand directorial featuring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham along with SRK, crossed Rs 31 crore in advanced bookings on day 1.
