Air India is set to launch a new Basic Maintenance Training Organization (BMTO) in Bengaluru. The new facility, which will offer a comprehensive 2+2-year Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) program, is expected to be operational by mid-2026, the airline announced on Friday.
The BMTO will be certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India's aviation regulator.
Air India has partnered with Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL), a subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), to develop a purpose-built campus covering 86,000 square feet. This campus will feature modern classrooms, well-equipped laboratories, and qualified trainers.
The AME program will be a four- year course, with the first two years focused on academic coursework in the classroom and the final two years offering practical training at Air India's new Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Bengaluru.
This MRO, which will be operational in early 2026, will be a key component of the training program.
