IIT Kharagpur has partnered with z21 Ventures, an early-stage, operator-led venture capital firm founded by IIT Kharagpur alumni to launch a startup accelerator program tailored for final-year students.
The total investment by z21 ventures in this partnership, which aims to foster innovation and entrepreneurship, will be Rs 2.5 crore, Rs 25 lakh initial investment per team, the institute said in a statement on Friday.
Designed to harness the talent at KGP and transform ideas into market-ready ventures, the accelerator will offer participants access to mentorship, funding, and resources, empowering student entrepreneurs to create impactful products.
This initiative will support up to 10 teams in its inaugural cohort, providing year-round mentorship, strategic guidance, and seed funding to bring their concepts to life. Participants will benefit from z21 Ventures’ vibrant network of industry operators, successful founders, and seasoned advisors while IIT Kharagpur will offer infrastructure support post-graduation.
IIT Kharagpur has been a leader in formal entrepreneurship education in India, establishing the Rajendra Mishra School of Engineering Entrepreneurship (RMSoEE) in 2010 to provide structured training to students at the Institute.
