Bharti Airtel has partnered with French technology firm IDEMIA to switch from virgin plastic SIM cards to recycled PVC SIM cards.
«An industry first in India, Airtel is the only telecommunications service provider to switch to recycled plastic SIM cards,» the companies said in a joint statement Wednesday.
With this migration, the companies hope to limit the generation of over 165 tonnes of virgin plastic, which may consequently reduce the generation of over 690 tonnes of CO2 equivalent in a year.
