Nazibur Rahman Bora surrendered before the police after killing his wife Sanghamitra Ghosh and in-laws (Sanjeev and Junu Ghosh), Assam police said. «The accused has surrendered before police. He confessed that he had committed the crime.

The accused is a engineering graduate (mechanical) from Central Institute of Technology, Kolkata, according to the police. Giving the sequence of the events leading up the murders, Assam DCP GP Singh on Twitter said that Nazibur Rahman Bora and Sanghamitra Ghosh met on Facebook during the 2020 lockdown and soon both of them fell in love.
In October 2020, the police offical said, both of them fled to Kolkata and parents of Sanghamitra Ghosh lodged an FIR. Later, Sanghamitra Ghosh was recovered from Kolkata by Golaghat Police. They had performed court marriage in Kolkata.
In March, 2021, parents of Sanghamitra Ghosh had again lodged an FIR against their daughter that she had committed a theft. Sanghamitra Ghosh was arrested and was in judicial custody for 37 days. After getting bail, Sanghamitra Ghosh started to stay with her parents.
In January 2022, the accused and Sanghamitra once again fled to Chennai and stayed there together for 5 months. They then returned to Golaghat in August 2022 and started residing together in house of accused. In November 2022, they had a baby boy.
In March 2023, Sanghamitra Ghosh left house of accused and returned to her parents. A case was registered that she was facing torture. Nazibur Rahman Bora was arrested and was in jail for 28 days.
