Alvarez & Marsal is making its mark in the professional services industry, pilfering another partner from one of the big four firms.

Street Talk understands Ernst & Young energy market leader Igor Sadimenko is out after almost 14 years and will soon arrive at the rival consulting firm.
Alvarez & Marsal raided EY’s ranks in June, picking up three transaction tax partners – Sean Keegan, Andrew Sharp and Edward Consett – and real estate and private equity tax specialist Adam Woodward.
Sadimenko joined EY as an energy transition partner in 2010. He was elevated to energy leader for the power and utilities industry in 2020, focused on Australia’s energy transition, and was appointed EY’s Net Zero Centre co-lead earlier this year.
Alvarez & Marsal opened offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth late last year, as part of its wider growth plan overseen by ex-Kearney executive Utsav Garg.
Since its arrival, the professional services majors have held their breath, waiting to see who will pop up at the group. More defections are expected.
Its Australian recruits include Timo Schmid, an ex-Boston Consulting Group PE practice leader, who is running the private equity performance improvement practice in Melbourne, and Perth-based Nick Reid, another ex-BCG partner who specialises in large-scale transformation and performance improvement in the resources sector.
It has also poached three managing directors from KPMG, as it builds its local operations in a bid to win a share of fees private equity firms and corporations pay for advisory work.
