Falgu Aviation Leasing Ltd, an aircraft lessor, has approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) against SpiceJet Ltd over an unpaid debt of Rs 67 crore.
The lessor has said that the debt arose from rental dues for a Boeing 737 that it had leased to the budget carrier.
SpiceJet has been entangled in a cycle of settlements and fresh insolvency pleas with the airline being taken to insolvency court by different lessors frequently even as it settles pending insolvency cases.
Further, the lessor informed the tribunal that an English Court had found SpiceJet liable to pay the rental dues, and they had moved Delhi High Court to enforce the English Court’s judgment.
However, the parties had entered into a settlement agreement while the case was pending before the Delhi High Court, and therefore; the Delhi High Court case was disposed of following the settlement agreement.
