But a newly launched app manages to do the opposite: Meet Arc Search, a new app from the Browser Company. The app’s UI is tidy and simple. Arc Search, as of now, is available only on iOS.
What makes Arc Search different? For starters, it looks different and does the job without much fuss. A lot of it is down to this nifty feature called ‘Browse for Me’, which summarises your search and makes a website… of sorts.
For instance, if you search for Simon & Garfunkel, it will break down the search with neat icons and bullet points with catchy headlines. It will then create subheads like ‘early success’, ‘major album’, ‘popular singles’ and ‘break up’. But it doesn’t stop here. You then see three top results: Wikipedia, YouTube and the official website if there is one.
The Pros
Arc Search relies on AI to scour the web and give you exactly what you are looking for, all in one page, sparing you the headache of jumping between countless browsers and pages. Fans of minimalism will enjoy this. Results are also trim and tidy, retaining only the essentials. It’s like the Marie Kondo of browsers.
The Cons
However, it also has its fair share of flaws. For instance, you can’t save a bookmark or even share URLs. All you can do is share a screenshot, which seems archaic in today’s world. You also don’t get incognito mode.
