Based in London, Shimizu, who joined after three years as a manager at Bain & Company, will support the company's research and engagement efforts in Japan. Previously, he worked at the Bank of Japan.
The AVI Global and AVI Japan Opportunities trusts employ a balanced approach to shareholder engagement in Japan, following the trend towards improved corporate governance in the country. AGT manages £1.2bn, while AJOT oversees £182m.
