Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is getting ready for the release of its fifth Avengers movie and may have found a new director. Destin Daniel Cretton was supposed to direct, but he withdrew late last year, leaving the highly sought-after role vacant. Shawn Levy is reportedly being contacted by Marvel to direct the upcoming ensemble superhero movie, as per a report on Collider.

Known for his work on the Netflix hit Stranger Things and the Night at the Museum series, Levy is a director with experience managing successful franchises. As per the reports of Collider, his work on Deadpool & Wolverine, which he is now wrapping up, seems to have satisfied Marvel execs, who then extended an invitation to him to helm the Avengers movie. Levy is presently holding the most recent screenplay, written by Michael Waldron (who previously wrote for Doctor Strange and Loki in the Multiverse of Madness), while he considers the proposal.

Even if Levy's participation is yet unknown, the conversations represent a big step forward. Levy was first approached by Marvel back in March, but he turned them down because of schedule issues.
